Hoping for one more snag, maybe Yokozuna’s mail comes to fruition about an exciting forward prospect.

Interestingly, a few player managers were interviewed on radio leading up to trade week and they predicted this trade period could see a record number of players switching clubs. Unless they extend it until March can’t see this happening so far.

It’s quite possible we’ll see large numbers of players changing clubs but that might happen through delisted free agent pick ups rather than via trades.

We’re seeing clubs placing too high a value on some players up for trade and hence there are often no takers as other clubs take the view that they simply have to wait for players to be delisted before they strike. We will possibly get someone like Sam Murray that way and might also find that JKH and/or Stretch are let go if they can’t be traded.

What about rookie spots? Aren't they all included in the same list now? (Can't remember what the exact changes were)

Smith and Walker gone as far as rookies go.

This thread tracks contracts, arrivals and departures for listed and rookie players:

It is pinned at the top of the Main Forum.

Thanks mate, was more about those changes in how the list works with rookie spots being part of the main list now etc.

Perhaps this is slightly off topic, but does anyone else hate the word "bespoke" ?

No, they denote a standard of dress, that is sadly lacking amongst many of the population of this fair city.

Yes, especially when that annoying prat on the English 'Grand Designs' says it.

I really want to smack that guy..

Are you kidding THT ???  Do we know what bespoke means ??

We must have one more deal in us because we only have  draft picks 3, 26 and 50 and we have 4 spots to fill so we will either split pick 3 or pick up Murray as a delisted free agent.

Well I like the word ‘bespoke’. Should I apologise for being different?

We have later picks than that. If needed it goes up into the 100s doesn’t it? Alternatively, you have one less on the list and pick up a DFA

we gave away 61 and 79 on the AFL website we have none left.

Stop stressing about list numbers.

We can go in one short or take another during preseason or mid year draft.

Interesting to see what we do with Jkh. Not mentioned in any trade news and I believe he is out of contract. He could be some value to the Crows given their max exodus. Maybe a pick in the 60s.  Port power have a few picks they may wish to give up

It’s likely we would look at a delisted free agent or consider the pre season draft.

It did originally pertain almost exclusively to clothing (first adopted by tailors on Saville Row). Now it pertains to a friggin’ donut or dog treat.

I love it!

We need a bespoke coach or perhaps some bespoke players.

Players that are new and original or creative or imaginative like players we haven't had in so many years.

Are we done yet?

Certainly not.

The potential trade of pick 3 for 6 plus is still on the cards.

There’s the delisted free agency period coming up, possible involvement in the pre season draft and the drafts themselves.

It would be ironic if we were looking at the pre season draft to make a play for Jack Martin given that Martin was originally drafted by the Suns as a compensation selection ahead of us when we picked up Jesse Hogan. Neither of them have really hit the heights expected of them when they were taken as 17 year olds.

I’m sure this is covered elsewhere but I would be immediately engaging the relevant person to convince Jack Martin to accept a one year deal with us for 2020. If that means delisting Stretch or JKH, so be it. No one could reasonably argue that Martin isn’t a significant upgrade on either of those two.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
