I think the answer you seek lies in someone who’s first and last names begin witht the letter K

Kent Kingsley is coming out of retirement to join Melbourne and repay us for all those years that we kept his career alive by letting him kick bags against us?

Just putting it out there, and before anyone asks and says i am trolling, I will not be giving any names (my source has demanded I don’t) but I have heard we are really trying to get a key forward from another vic team!!

I will let you all guess away (or conversely have a crack at me for not naming anyone and making it up), but I will only say he is from a vic team and has been mentioned nowhere in the media.

We all know Elliott was not the only player we have been talking too!

Give us an over and under 50 games!

I wonder if the Dogs get Bruce if they give up on Schache. Or if the Pies look to shift Mihocek now knowing they can't pay him next year. That's my 2 guesses.

I wish it was him, but no, it isn’t.

I won’t answer all of them, as it will give it away, but once I can get my source to allow me to give some more, I will.

Anything worth getting slightly excited over?

Interesting.

I see you've ruled out McKay, and you would expect others like Curnow, Ben Brown etc to be well and truly off the market, so I'm interested in who this might be and if it's someone who would slot in to our best 22.

Are we poaching Sam Weideman from the Casey Demons?

Benny Brown...come on down. I presume he's a mate of Preuss... ;)

Didn't someone post the other day saying that we've targeted a key forward from another team who is basically pretty ordinary. I think @DeeSpencer asked the right question. Is it someone we should be excited about or is it the struggler?

I am excited by the player, he is not a battler, but a player who has kicked quite a few goals against us (but thats not hard as we have always allowed players to kick modern day bags of 4-5 against us!).

Josh Bruce

Actually Membrey always scores against us, but he isn't actually a key forward, though he does play that way against us.

Funny you mention him - with the Saints obviously right into the other King, would they palm off both Bruce and Membrey with the idea that the King twins and, maybe, McCartin are their forwards for the future?

Yep, that nails it. It's Bruce. Yeah, very meh, IMO. But anyway. He's a stopgap option, not a long term option IMO. I'd prefer we try recruiting a couple of quick smalls to compliment Melksham, Frisch, Hannan and Petracca.

Please just tell us.

But didn't yokozuna say the player was out of the media?

If so, it can't be Bruce... might well be membrey though, which is worse. He really is the current Kent Kingsley

Bruce seems totally committed to getting to the Dogs.  Can't see where we fit in at all.

Big Bad Benny Brown

Brown and McDonald would actually be a very good tandem, but I doubt it's Brown.

It's Tom Boyd, isn't it? He's decided he wants another shot.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
