Plenty of players who are valuable to the Club don't always get votes for playing a role as the umps don't see them!

Spare me the excuses please....

Both Captains play in the Midfield

Played all season. Did nothing.

FFS TMac polled 6 votes from 2 games

Hyperbole, not surprisingly.

Using that logic we should've made Woey captain after his win???

There are more intelligent ways of potting our captains than using an old fashioned award that gets disproportionate media coverage.

Yeah, yeah, i know...."big summer preseason ahead...", blah blah

good to see Fyfe thank his corporate partners before thanking his team mates lol.

Not when both play in the midfield

Both of them should be ashamed.

Woewodin is the luckiest bastard alive to get that medal. We all know that

I just don't understand how we seem to always shoot ourselves in the a$$.

People on here have picked better players in past drafts, then people at the club.

No matter who we have at the club.

In hindsight on a regular basis... yes.

At the time? Well, a clock is correct twice per day

Tim Kelly will fold and play for the Dockers in 2020.

The Dockers will trade Pick 6 & Darcy to the Cats for him.

West Coast simply cannot get the deal done to satisfy Geelong.

True

Angus Brayshaw going from third last year to not getting a vote this year epitomises our season, bloody horrible to say the least!!

No. You just want to start arguments.

Both Captains were rubbish this year

Both played in the engine room and did bugger all...

Given his age I find it quite the disgrace. Is he worth persevering with or do we trade him while he still has currency? A

I liked Eddie Betts tonight. He was asked a stupid question after winning Goal of the Year. Who would he like to thank? He really wanted to say himself of course! Well he kicked the goal didn't he? Talent.☺️

Is it just me or is the Brownlow losing its relevance?

Lost its relevance as soon as it became about the attention seeking groupies and wannabe Instagram Influencers who call themselves WAGs.
Nadia Bartel for eg , you're history .... Get off my TV and out of my newsfeed.

Only in hindsight, you are quite delusional if you think anyone on this site could do a better job

Add these blokes to the list of 'worthless' captains...

Easton Wood (0 votes)

Tom Jonas (0 votes)

Ben Stratton (0 votes)

Witts (1 vote)

Geary (1 vote)

Walker (2 votes)

Hurn (3 votes)

Heppel (3 votes)

J Selwood (3 votes)

P Davis (3 votes)

Ron Barassi... In the two seasons he won the Demons' best-and-fairest award, 1961 and 1964, he managed only 10 votes from the umpires.

Someone always ruins a thread on Demonland, by bringing logic to the argument.

Well said WR

Gawn and Oliver presented again.

Should lead the joint IMO.

I added Joel Selwood (3) and Phil Davis (3)… worth noting that Sloane, Swallow and Cotchin didn't make it close to double figures either!

Let us say that Nathan Fyffe is a truly worthy Brownlow medallist as were those close to his tally i.e Paddy Dangerfield, Patrick Cripps and Tim Kelly.

The rest of this is pure sour grapes and vindictiveness.

Sack 'em all!

They've done sfa despite most of them being in the engine room. And none are playing in this week's Granny... says it all.

Big preseason for the lot of them! Yadda, yadda....

Well it's actually not hindsight, if they declare their choices before the draft.

As an example most on DL thought we would take Daniel Talia if he was there at our pick. He was and we took Jordan Gysberts.

It was a shock to most DL's. It got much more shocking as the years rolled on.

That is but one of many examples.

I know drafting is an inexact science, but we have had far too many misses. I won't mention wasted early picks in Toumpas, Cook and Morton as that would only upset people.

Experts working on drafting for a year or two with a group of players, should be able to nail top 10 picks most of the time. Not always, but most of the time. If they can't, they are no good at their job.

As we know, drafting and trading are the ways to build a good list. Stuff that up and success becomes nearly impossible.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.
