Let's just say if he didn't intentionally touch cocaine he probably would have been in the minority.

I'm blowed (geddit?) if I know how you can "inadvertently" come into contact with cocaine to the extent that it shows up in a drug test.

I don't know, but i'm willing to be a guinea pig and test a range of scenarios (guvna i slipped and fell into a bath of coke)

I was suggesting it was the other way around - who we intend to draft influences who we target in DFA.  If we're taking Young we've got less need for HB depth and Murray and if we're not taking Jackson we have more need for tall depth hence Brown.

Yeah what DeeSpencer said.

Well, we didn’t, and we did, so does that rekindle any interest in Murray?

Murray has some stains of cocaine, but Brown has stains of EssUndone.

Probably not. I was just plain wrong with my reading.

If Brown is coming i've got to get on with my family especially near my birthday so forgive but not remember....

A Sam Landsberger piece on Tuesday suggested we were one of 3 clubs still in the hunt for Murray. (GWS and Richmond the other two) I’m not sure how this would work given we only have the two list spots available?

It's my understanding that we are no longer interested in Murray, unless things have changed, and I don't know that they have.

Brown was brought in as a top up player when Essendon lost all their suspended players, innocent bystander

Besides which Murray is an average player, why no club has gone near him

Bagging is rubbishing players or posters, I regard him as an average AFL player, obviously an opinion shared by AFL recruiters

And I probably played about 200 at various levels

He’s a better player than our bottom six and probably better than most other teams bottom six. It’s not always about recruiting the next Judd or Dangerfield. I still think he’ll get picked up, time shall tell.

LOL

If anyone here said that about a Melbourne player you would have a good old cry.

I suspect he was a back up for the last list position if Bennel fell through to Geelong.

Touch of Little Britain's politician based sketch about it....

"After a tough and stressful day at the Club, I decided to take a relaxing drive home. Clearly distracted, I found myself in an industrial area near Dandenong where I had a chance encounter with a chap named Wheezy........"

I wonder why we went cold on him. Better available or if there was something about him that made us step back

Limitation of spots on list would be one reason and the change in type of player needed resulted in Brown getting the nod as a KP player not a running type.

Rivers  has also filled that vacancy  as a half/back /mid and running type and is 4 years younger taller and stronger in the long run.

What I was thinking, but we did seem to go from interested to not at all in a hurry. Anyway, no big loss. Other teams were not kicking down his door either.

Now with Aaron Neitschke sadly reinjuring his ACL do we have another look at Sam Murray?

I definitely like Sam Murray's pace and run and carry with the ball.

Nevertheless, it's definitely worth re-opening the conversation.

Another option could be the number 1# mid-season rookie draft pick Josh Deluca who was delisted from Carlton perhaps?

Aaron Neitschke will probably be added to the LTI list for 2020 so it is worth looking at what other options are out there.

Here is some highlights of Sam Murray.

Highlights of Josh Deluca when he was originally drafted by Fremantle.

Otherwise, we can simply wait until the mid-season rookie draft in the middle of 2020 I guess?

I don't think we have any room left on the list, other than the spot waiting for Bennell.

I think the reference was to an extra spot from the KK LTI.

Murray has signed with Williamstown for next season.

/thread.

Players were drafted mid-season this year, hardly think it's /thread time due to that.

I have no intel, but my gut feel is that clubs are likely to avoid this guy while he continues to claim no wrong-doing.

  • GAMEDAY: Geelong

It's Game Day, and reinforcements are finally arriving for the Demons—but will it be too little, too late? They're heading down the freeway to face a Cats side returning home to their fortress after two straight losses, desperate to reignite their own season. Can the Demons breathe new life into their campaign, or will it slip even further from their grasp?

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
