3pm on Sat for the 2nd final, wtf?

I hope Hawkins gets a 2nd week for having the audacity to appeal

good to see Garry Lyon and co saying he should take the week and run. Most in the media thinking he was lucky to only get one week. imo Hawk has zero chance to overrule the decision

Call me a cynic, but I'm inclined to believe the AFL has shown how tough it is by handing out the 1 week knowing he can have a no risk appeal and will then get off.  History would indicate I'm right, but you never know I guess.

One match suspension upheld, sucked in Flogkins.

Just checking in with Tobes to see what time suits him for another fine.

Just got an email saying guest passes are available in the AFL members for both preliminary finals.

Understandable for Collingwood v Giants.... but Richmond v Geelong ... where are Richmond's 100,000 members??

In their baskets, gnawing on an old bone while waiting for the kids to come from school, then walkies!!!! Who's a good boy? Who's a good boy? Yes, you're a good boy!!!

I have been givimg GWS a real shot at winning but with Greene and Whitfield out then it probably wont happen.

Oh God - not sure I could handle another Collingwood GF. I get back from overseas on Tuesday and if Collingwood get through I will subjected to torment both at work and home??. Good reason to stay away for another week.

I hope for my sanity, GWS do the right thing.

Greene should get cleared tonight for that face rub.  shouldn't miss a final for that.

but whitfield and Coniglo hurts.  The rested Pies will beat them easy

and callen ward hurts too

If that Preeek gets of after Flaunting another Brainfade then ......

I can kind of see why gws are disappointed, and also Id be pretty annoyed if I saw one of the people that sat on this case in the collingwood rooms the week before with the scarf on. I know Shane Wakelin wouldn't be thinking oh Im going to decided to rub him out because he is playing collingwood but it would still annoy. you.

Sent a text to SEN this morning asking whether they thought Blicavs would tag Martin, has him covered for run and not a problem when he goes forward...Lyon thought not, I think so...

It's the right move to my mind and something that Scott would try.

Let's watch what happens.

no greene, whitfield, coniglio, ward.

filth just got an early xmas present

next week colliwobbles against tiges - nothing better than another filth gf loss

I still think it will be close on Saturday Arvo

Greater Waste of Space have absolutely nothing to lose, they will be feral.

Could be most entertaining!!

My feeling is that GWS will be blown away by the crowd, umpires and Pies team.  Greene is so important to them and with no Coniglio, Ward and now Whitfield, a win is unlikely.  Imagine us missing Clarry, Harmes, Viney and Gus.

The other game will be closer.  Geelong aren’t being given enough respect by the media.  The week one winners have only played one game in nearly four weeks so Tiges no certainties.

But we’ll see...!

Downright disgusting how much of a free ride Collingwood have gotten this final series. A total joke. They should never have been top 4 in the first place if not for a totally pointless upset by Hawthorn in the final round that achieved nothing. Handed a double chance and a golden ticket straight to the Grand Final as a result of the Giants' poor luck.

I hope GWS just come out and massacre them physically. They have nothing to lose, might as well make the bastards hurt.

Giants saying the whole match review/tribunal system is favouring Coll. Greene suspension

The MRO was Michael Christianson, a Collingwood premiership player and Shane Wakelin, Collingwood player on Tuesday night's Tribunal.

If it was a Melbourne player I would be also be arguing the system is rigged.  The AFL should never have allowed that much potential bias in favour of Coll, GWS opps in the Prelim.  Poor 'optics' to say the least.

And, fails 'the pub test'!

The AFL's moral compass is completely askew.

They should never have allowed Wakelin to sit on the tribunal after hanging around the C'wood room with his scarf. He should have been removed from the panel at that point.

But a long time ago, they should have told him upfront, part of being on the tribunal panel is that you may not be seen wearing any club's colours or hanging around any club's facilities.

They don't seem to understand any of this. They seem to grapple (unsuccessfully) with why this might be an issue at all. Any why should anyone worry, when there are record crowds!!!

When it comes to refereeing and officiating, they don't have any course charted. They don't know where they're going or why. They just drift with the currents and only react when rocks hove into view.

End of the day: the only optics they care about are the TV screens, ie big audiences looking at big crowds.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
