Loss to the game and the football community, a genuine nice guy, character of the game who gave back at grassroots and left a smile on the face of many who met him.

RIP Spud thoughts are with Anita and all the family

I felt the same way. I rarely feel sorrow over the death of strangers but I felt a serious blow over this.  Grief is a strange beast.

Most famous people suck, and deep down we know that. Deep down we know Danny Frawley was a good person, so it hurts.

To anyone who suspects they have depression. Ask for help, but importantly get the right help. Not just the first person you see. Primarily it is a chemical imbalance, nothing to do with strength or weakness.

This appears to be self inflicted which is horrible. Bloody depression!!    A man who had everything to live for.... great family.. worked in an industry he loved (apparently)  and it still happened. Like others I did not know him  but gut wretched

A timely reminder that tomorrow ( Thursday 12th September) is RUOK day and for the blokes on here, its never been more important to speak up, ask for help or make sure you ask someone if they ROK? One pretty simple question it can make a difference.

I've always known of Danny Frawley as a champion footballer and media personality, but it was only after reading the words and sentiments expressed in these pages, that it hit home that he was also a champion person.  Thanks for the insights Demonlanders.

RIP Danny.  Sincere condolences to his family.

It’s so sad. He didn’t show up for his birthday celebrations on sunday.

It had all got too much....

Spud was so humble that when asked to carry the Commonwealth Games torch in his leg he sought out children with disabilities to carry it with him. Our daughter was one of the lucky kids chosen- this act proved to me what a lovely guy he was. Such a tragedy - my prayers go out to his family and loved ones at this time.

This is an utterly bewildering and disrespectful blunder from the AFL social media team. What is wrong with people?

An absolute disgrace. Saw that this morning and wondered who was going to fired from AFL HQ this morning. Then wondered if it was a clumsy attempt to get a WCE player peeing gatorade off the radar.

Last nights AFL 360 was just about as raw as tele gets. It so great to have a laugh, good for the soul, but its also great for the soul to have a cry.

Not my cup of tea for 'sliding doors', but think you've overreacted a tad:

I often found it strange that people, vented and posted tributes to those they din’t know online.

I still don’t completely understand it with Frawley. But it has affected me. I hope his family are able to get on with their lives as best as possible.

Danny Frawley “spud” rip

Never thought I’d say this, but Channel7 and their commentators did a wonderful send off to Spud tonight, celebrated with a beer, well done lads. RIP spud, larger than life mate!

Nah man. It’s not about the underlying content’s virtue. Make sure notifications like that (Ding Dong??) don’t get broadcast on people’s screens.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

  • PREGAME: Richmond

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
