Word is starting to get out now about the Dees chasing Yze, I think to replace Jennings' role in strategy though not 100% sure.

Sam McClure has mentioned it now on SEN, possibly because Hawthorn's year is done and moves can be made.

Very highly rated and has risen through the ranks quite quickly. Would be a fantastic get should it happen.

Let’s hope so , we could also use him for kicking drills at training

AH YESSSSSSSSSSSSS THE SECRET OF THE OOOOOOOOZZZZZEE!

I never considered that Yze would be a good coach for some reason - maybe because I just thought his playing success was based purely on talent.  But his experience under Clarko would be invaluable  and it would be great to see him return home.

yes from me...we need a Melbourne person back in our ranks. Would love Yze.

I don't care where he's from, so long as he can coach.

I haven't noticed a lot of Hawthorn people in their FD and it hasn't hurt them.

The idea of needing a Melbourne person is a croc...

Hawthorn had Derm and Dunstall running the place when Clarko came on board. That is what distinguishes them. We have barely any Melbourne people involved with the club anymore. Helps with the connection to the club.

It arouses me to read this but didn't Hawthorn recently promote Yze into a strategy role?

I think it was at the end of last season, but not 100% sure. He's been there for 6-7 years and worked his way up.

It's not all locked in yet, but we're pushing apparently.

Make it happen, we need some HFC IP input into next years game plan.

This would be an epic result.

The mids and the forwards would learn a lot from the Ooze - he was a great ball user, had super skills, and always seemed to have heaps of time. Would love to see him back at the Dees.

Contracts end at 31st of October?

Not sure when the actual contracts end, but there's a stipulation that assistants need to be told whether they're being renewed etc in early August. Would think the Hawks would want to keep him, and they were still in the finals hunt then, so they all might have kept their powder dry a bit.

The ideal candidate to help all our one sided players with their deficiencies....oh wait.

You're all going to @ me but I was never a fan.  No right foot, selfish, and worst of all, he wore a glove ?

But you can't be an assistant to Clarkson without learning a ton.  Should Yze be hired I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

How come it takes so long for old players to read the "tea leaves" about the Club that rears them

Not true, we had Stynes and Lyon around when we appointed Neeld.

I like the idea of targeting coaches with Clarkson IP. The fact he was one of my favourites is just an added bonus.

Some contacts would be appropriate.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
