Great early on in his career, but is an ability to do the simple things in matches this year was disappointing. Developed a bad habit of kicking the ball, rather dribbling the ball, along the ground and missing basic shots on goal. His tackling pressure became non existent.

had some great moments. Wish him all the best.the Gold Coast might pick him up.

Oooooh nice one, personal attack. It hurts bro. Well done *Golf Clap*

Don’t need a golf club but the dribble you spit out is laughable.

So do you think we should have kept Garlett?

Leads us this for both average goals and average tackles inside 50.

Tells you how bad we have been in both -areas. AN indictment. Were you not annoyed by his inability finish this year. ? Remember the adelaide game?

Not saying he's been great, and clearly we've struggled in those areas, but wouldn't you think that would mean you wouldn't get rid of him so quickly? Surely delisting players who have strengths in your areas of weakness isn't a solid strategy for improvement?

I'm not surprised he's gone, I thought he may have actually retired, but I just disagree with people who try to paint him as something he's not.

Well boys, we knew this day was coming a long time ago and we've come to terms with it. Truth is Dec was a bit over football anyway, to be putting in all that blood, sweat and tears to not be playing regular senior footy isn't easy.

That being said, the family and I will be forever grateful to the Melbourne Football Club for giving Dec the chance to live out his life long dream, and he got that chance on a sunny afternoon at the MCG. Not only that, but they won a close game, and himself having an impact on that result (his centre clearance for those who remember) He and us will never forget it.

To everyone at Demonland, since I first started posting here 5 years ago when Dec started playing some decent footy at Casey, thank you for all your kind words. I have had a great time being able to share this experience with super passionate supporters which are sometimes hard to find. I have sincerely enjoyed the conversations and experiences I've had over the years and I'll be sure to pop back in ever now and again as I now and will always bleed Red and Blue.

Dec's career wasn't the most glamorous by any stretch but only a very small percentage of people who ever play our beloved game get to say they played in the AFL.

Cheers everyone, and have a drink on me!

Lol keep it coming mate, must be proud of yourself shooting off personal insults on the internet. Good one.

Do you go up to randoms in the street and insult them for pointing out facts or do you only do it on the internet?

Jones is our highest goal scorer on our list now, not sure why you need to go down the path of personal insults over me highlighting this but ok mate.

Settle down buddy.  Telling you, your commentary is dribble is hardly a personal insult.

Stick to your Jones bashing, it seems to be your sweet spot and I’m sure if he reads it he won’t take it personally.

I think it was  Redleg who commented on the Garlett Carlton highlights at the time he was recruited and he posted how impressive they were.  I then watched the them too and totally agreed.  Jeffy when ‘on’ was electric and every time there was the fast break you knew he’d end up out-sprinting their backman.  Ha brilliant.  Loved his sneaky tackles out of nowhere,  he won that game up in Brisbane for us single handedly and we got him for such a low pick, a treasured gift from Uncle Mick...Jeffy you entertained us, we loved you.

Enjoy  your next adventure, bonne chance ??

When he was hot, he had it.

Thanks Jeffy!

A favorite of mine in our recent era. When he was on he was a highlight reel. Thanks Jeffy - good luck post footy

Mate I’m sure even Jones would see how comical it is that his our leading goal kicker.

Will miss Jeffy. One of the very few w X factor.

All the best to u and thanks fr all you gave.

I loved seeing Jeffy in the red and the blue.

One of my favourite players during the Roos years.

Good luck to him - will always have very fond memories of his contributions to the club.

Nice memories - and a forward line!

Watts

Hogan

Kent

Gee, they were shocking. Glad they're no longer with us!

Yes noted those skilful players in the Jeffy highlights package! Traded out Watts and Kent for more grunt oh well. Gee we could use a 2015 Jeffy now with his speed and goal sense. But as I have said in the past did our game plan of 2017/18 kill him? High forward press, congested forward line, multiple forward entries but  no space to run. Looking at his highlights package he worked best when he had space and was one on one.

Agree

Unbeatable one on one when the ball hit the ground

Worked hard when Roos coached him, but the club's 'contested footy at all costs' manifesto killed him

Was legit my favourite player for a while there. Will always have a soft spot for him.

I’ve said a few times, he brought a swagger to our side when we were completely devoid of it. He got in opposition faces. He did the mercurial when no one else was even remotely capable.

He was more than just a footnote. He will be remembered. By me at least.

Cheers Jeffy. And thanks.

I’m sad we’re delisting him, not because I disagree (I think it’s the right call), but because I wish he was still part of our best 22.

I loved it when he joined and when he was playing well he was a reason to go watch us play.

Insipid at the end at definitely time to go. To suggest another Club would even consider a lifeline is an absolute joke!!

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
