Channel 7 news reporting GWS will offer us pick 6 with a big offer for pick 3.

6 and Caldwell and it would be a yes, in a heartbeat.

Use 6 on Kemp, 2nd rounder on Weightman & take Langdon in the PSD.

Has to be the Giants future first round pick and maybe more.

They’re turning mid and late first round picks in to the 3rd and 4th best players in the draft, they’ll rightly have to pay for it

time to stop playing the GWS game and taking their cast offs in return for allowing them to draft the guns.

Their modus operandi is so old and transparent it is almost amusing.

Tyson anyone ???

If we can leave Bonar out of this and get someone of the type we need instead (or a suitable pick) it would be so much better.

Agree with what you are saying but we are really getting him for nothing, he would add to our midfield depth I reckon he and Petracca could rotate as Midfield forward.  You still will get a player at 6 with the attributes we are looking for.  Not sure what else GWS would want to give up for a 3 place upgrade

After two knee recos can you blame him.  He is now in the same precarious situation as Lever.   Wouldn't touch him with Frankenstein's barge pole!

Crikey yes!  Tomo should be the last we get in from this lot as insurance / depth top up in order to get to base camp.

After this trade (and hopefully a much improved 2020) we will start filling holes with some top line quality at trade and draft and make an attempt at the summit.

What would stop Gold Coast from picking him up in the PSD?

Also said on channel 7 Geelong are likely to chat to us for pick 3.

6 and 12 would be perfect to land us a Dylan Stephens and Weightman

We should push to trade our pick 3 for their pick 6 and Caldwell.

If we pulled that off, we’d be trading in a future gun midfielder who can play both inside and outside (plays best outside) and draft another elite talent with pick 6 such as Ash, Flanders, Serong etc.

Make it happen Dees!

So has anyone run the numbers as to how many points of benefit GWS would gain by getting pick 3, no bid on Green (until pick 4)..?

As we should be asking for at least half that gain in addition to the 3-6 point difference...

yes?

where are GCS going to find the salary plus the term and do you think they would take a player who says he wants to play in another state.

If there were four clubs between us and Langdon it might be a large risk but to those in the know (and I hope our negotiators are in the know) the risk is perfectly quantifiable and capable of being hedged.

We'd need to send something else. He was a first rounder last year who they rate highly.

Either future 2nd or future 3rd to them also.

Not interested in picking up their off cuts but pressuring them in to a really strong return with a nice haul of draft picks for moving back a few places and maybe a player thrown in as well is good business. We've got the upper hand to push for a really good package. In the Tyson deal we were desperate and paid massive overs for no good reason, that's not the case now.

GWS probably are happy with 23, 28 for Bobby Hill, it's a lot but the kid can play.

Mate, didn't know a lot about Bobby Hill when you posted about this so went and did some research, he looks sensational! Seems to have gone under the radar so far maybe? Good pickup.

Always hard to get a read on NEAFL form and he had some rough moments at AFL level, including in the final against the Pies. But he has a heap of tricks and would've been a first round pick most years. Shows the benefits of that early 2nd round pick as well, as teams reassess after the first night of the draft and look to trade up, unfortunately it looks like we'll give it up for Langdon.

Essendon seem to be interested in Green, and want 5 as part of the Joe deal. Gives us something to play off GWS and Ess against each other

Just like when Essendon wanted Oliver..:)

How good is Caldwell? I don’t know anything about him. Is he quick, good foot skills?

Predominantly inside, but has very good power and acceleration. Can get on the outside, Giants rate him highly.

Would be a great get.

Surely at this point we need the best quality player we can get. Hopefully our down year is a one off (!) and we need to maximise the advantage that brings at the draft,

As someone said earlier I am a bit sick of swapping picks with the Giants to see them run off with the cream

This is from Knightmare's 2018 Phantom draft over on Bigfooty.

7. Jye Caldwell (VIC)
Best position: Inside midfield
Height, weight: 184cm, 78kg
Recruited from: Bendigo Pioneers
Projected draft range: 5-15
Similar to: Luke Shuey
Rationale: Caldwell has had limited exposure with just three TAC Cup matches this year due to hamstring troubles. A powerful ball-winner with breakaway speed. Moves up power rankings on the back of review of match tape as a prospect who has been out of sight/out of mind for much of the season.
October Ranking: 14
Strengths:
Stoppage work
Contested ball-winning
First possession winner
Distribution by hand
Acceleration from the contest
Competitiveness
Tackling
Dual sided kick
Weaknesses:
Consistency by foot
Little exposed form due to injury
