Let me be the first to say he is an over rated injury prone player who would spent more time at the tattoo parlour than roaming our forward line.

Dodged a bullet there.

Just spoke to a reasonably well connected Pies fan, who agrees with you and isn't fussed if he leaves. FWIW.

Is it OK if I don't care. Good player sure, but geez the chances of getting 50 games from him was not ever looking good

Overrated injury prone player. Glad it didn’t happen.

There is a special thread to post that the "He is hopeless, glad we didn't get him " thread.

Dan Butler at half the price now please.

Not draft pick wise, unfortunately

Was happy to get him for free but would have been on the countdown to the inevitable pre-season injury.

Interesting toured the Lions facilities. That say it all not having comparable facilities is a major impediment to enticing players. It indictment on the AFL that the club is so disadvantaged in this area. Yes the club has a responsibility but Queensland clubs got there through handouts. Level playing field is a myth.

Brisbane have some of the worst facilities in the league.  They, like us, have been trying to get their own home base for years.  It's on the cards, but hasn't happened yet.  If he selects Brisbane, it's definitely not 'facilities' that won him over.

Bad move by him. Eschewed the opportunity to play bruise free football and extend his career.

Bit disappointed but not that much as he'll do a hammy in Feb almost guaranteed.

if i was him and was wanting to make a move I would chose interstate not 100 metres away. he is a fan favourite so if he screws pies over he will want to be interstate

hopefully we made the pies pay him a higher contract to push someone else out!

Good point, not aware of his status, would he cost us a draft pick? i imagine we could get him for a late one?

We need a pinned thread on coping with grief ?

I can't work out why we let go of one injury prone small forward due to his wanting a 3 year contract, only to then go after another injury prone small forward, with the sweetener that we'll give him a 3 year contract to prise him away from his current club.

Because Elliott is infinity times better than Kent?

Rejection hurts

Even when it's by a perpetually injured, Collingwood bogan

From The Age:

"Jamie Elliott has told Melbourne he won't be joining them as a free agent.

The high-flying forward has yet to say where he will play next year, as he is yet to recommit to Collingwood and toured the Brisbane Lions facilities on Saturday as he continues to weigh up an offer from them.

The Demons believed Elliott was likely to remain at Collingwood and the Magpies were confident of re-signing the popular forward on new terms. List manager Ned Guy said on Monday morning the Pies had a two-year deal on the table for Elliott.

The Demons were told Elliott had decided against a move there on Saturday."

Had felt for a while like he was playing us to get a better deal from the pies, which is a shame because he would have been great in our forward line

For those still playing along.

No rush Mitch, we no longer want him. In fact we never spoke to him so not sure what all the fuss is about.

Disappointed but by no means devastated.  Good player, but plays more as a marking small forward rather than a quick, dashing, down at your heals small.

Definitely would have improved our team, but didn’t directly address our inside 50 issues.
