So you would take Todd Viney over Jarrod Roughead for list management. One , young, keen, recently out of the game great character who has overcome adversity, four time premiership winner against, as some here said, a fence leaner. Says it all.

It was Todd Viney's relationship with Lewis that allowed us to bring him across.

Mate, St Kilda haven't appointed him their head of list management. Are you serious? Sure, he's a great player, but there's more than just playing the game involved in list management. You have to understand contracts, negotiations, scout info. If you think Melbourne should appoint a first year manager as the head, purely based on his playing credentials, than you want to see Melbourne go further down the hole. Seriously, I can't think of a more stupid decision to make.

Roughead is going to St Kilda as an apprentice.

Welcome Alan Richardson as a mentor and assistant coaching...great to see we are bringing in the "best of the best"

This guy has a coaching track record that's poor and was given every chance at the saints being at the helm for 6 years!

Great stuff dee's!

Mahoney was all too keen to say we pinched Richardson before he was snapped up by other Clubs. Alluding to us as a destination club. And yet we have Roughead whos best friend has just spent three years at the club not wanting a bar of us. Any comment Mahoney?

No, because Mahoney is hopeless. So is Richardson. So are all the people we are chasing as coaches, and all the people we are chasing as players. Our current coaching panel is hopeless. So is our playing list. Our management is hopeless, as is the board, as are our sponsors. Anyone who buys anything from our sponsors are hopeless. Our members are all hopeless. All our supporters are hopeless. Anyone who's ever attended an MFC match is hopeless.

Let's see now ... the media who report on us are hopeless, and their TV shows, radio shows, and publications are by extension all hopeless. The organisations that own them are hopeless. The corporate/financial structure that enables this ownership is hopeless, and anyone or anything that opposes that structure is also hopeless. Anyone who comes into contact with any of the above bodies or individuals becomes automatically hopeless.

It's all hopeless. The future is hopeless. The trains stopping at Jolimont Station are hopeless. The trams on Wellington Parade and Swan St are hopeless. Sport in general is hopeless. Life in Victoria is hopeless. All because of the MFC! I hope you're happy, MFC.  You've got a lot to answer for.

He didn't work as a head coach, sure. He had an average list with injury prone key players for most of his tenure. But he's a good pickup as an assistant coach. Puts a huge emphasis on fitness (a glaring issue at the club) and seemed to have our number fairly often, out strategizing us at times knowing we don't have the outside run that his team did. He exposed us and I for one am looking forward to him working out where we are beaten as a club and sealing those cracks.

He's actually got a great record as an assistant coach and is incredibly highly rated which is why the moment he had more offers than he knew what to do with.

some people just aren't meant to be senior coaches, but we're extremely lucky to have someone with his football brain and experience at the club, and i have more confidence knowing he's there.

Roughead was a great player, now he moves into another field where he starts as an absolute novice with no guarantees he will be any good at it.

What we don't need at the moment are any more apprentices, we need experienced heads.

...and that's what we've been doing. Getting some good experience, getting people with good track records on board.

If we get Yze then that's another good experienced head added to the mix.

He or his like will be far more valuable to us than Roughead at this time.

I’m looking forward to working across the football program and with a really talented young group of players, and contributing where I can to their development,” Roughead said.

You people have no vision. plodders and bootlickers united in defence of Club decisions. meanwhile we await the announcement of what Richardson new job is to be.

"New recruit spouts generic line about new club" = I know better than the club, see, look what he's said about St Kilda! Bah! I should be the one making the decisions! The people inside the club have no idea! And anyone who disagrees with me is an apologist who has no grasp on football!

I think Richardson's job will be working across the football program and contributing where he can with a really talented group of young and emerging players.

Imagine the mob that do not want a bar of Roughead developing our forwards among other things all lined up licking the Club stamps. All the while you try and tell them about email. It would be no, we like things just the way they are here now thanks. We are gonna buy a used fax machine soon.

But at least he said "I think" rather than just assuming that anything the club does must ipso facto be wrong like you seem to do.

And what is wrong with him not knowing '10 days in'?  That's just a mindless putdown.   If the Club revealed all their plans you'd complain that they aren't professional.    You are so negative that anything but disapproval of everything the club does allows you to label other posters as plodders or bootlickers.  Insulting people doesn't improve your arguments.  You will convince people of your views more if you are politer.

No, I am not doing this in school time.

Veteran Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin returned to the training track to bring you the following observations from Gosch's Paddock this morning. Beautiful morning for training. The dew has dried, out from AAMI, quiet chatting. Maysie does his heart symbol. 7 in rehab, Turner, Hore, Sestan, BBB, Petty, Spargo and Schache. All in runners. Melky weighted and change of angles work. Salem has his individual program. White cap (no contact), Howes, Woewodin and Sparrow

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
