Good luck Bull.  Showed plenty of courage and commitment, and sad to see you go.  I remember that maggot Rance sticking the knees into Bull’s back and putting him out for an extended period.  Never had a solid run at it.

So where does that leave us: so far, Keilty and Garlett gone, Smith and Lewis retired. I think I'm missing someone ... but is there a thread somewhere with the comings/goings?

I have updated this thread:

There seem to be a few players re-contracted but not announced so had planned to wait till they were known.

Maynard

Congrats on a career Bull! Was always a fan and unfortunately injuries got the better of you.

Certainly had the talent thats for sure.

Well done Bull, you played AFL footy and achieved your ambition.

Unlucky with injuries, which probably cost you a few more games.

Hope you return to Casey.

Met you a few times and you are a nice friendly bloke.

Good luck in the future.

Awesome effort Tim, just like Dec you gave it a red hot crack and had some excitement to you. Best of luck for the future and hopefully you take some screamers in local footy.

A tough hoor and solid player but injury prone. I must say I thought he was the better of the present listed Smiths.

Officially announced. Ripper bloke, always gave his all, probably to the detriment of his body in the end.

Looking at that right forearm, I fully expect to hear he's gone to Hollywood to play Popeye.

Sad news - a man who gave his best had a dip and was very unlucky ( with injuries ) should have played 100 Thanks Bull -

Cheers for your efforts Bull, gave it a red hor crack but unfortunately the footy gods weren't on your side.

Best of luck to you in whatever the future holds

Bull had potential and gave us the best he had to give, a goer. However he had more potential being injured and was good at that.

Rarely strung 2 games together but he had heart more so than many of his team mates could show.

I was a really big fan of the Bull, was hoping he could fill that Cam Pederson role, but you cant fight the body. He should be really proud and hope he goes well post footy.

So that 5 gone..(Jeff, Jordy, Maynard, Dec  & Bull)  who else gets us to that magic number of 8?

Not sure why 8 is a magic number but if you want 3 more names:  Stretch, Kennedy Harris, J Wagner still un-contracted and like other OOC players no rumours that they have re-sgined (and announcements yet to be made).

I think 8 changes to the list is the right amount of refreshing. It allows some flexibility in how we conduct the trade period. Gives us 2 /3 looks at FAs 4 draft picks which we need, we need to keep adding youth and finding good players and then a fresh rook or Pre season pick.

My guess it will be at least 10 players out.

Add Guy Walker to the 3 names I just posted.  And Frost is rumoured to be traded.  That is 10 outs.  And I wouldn't be surprised if another contracted player isn't traded.

Yeah good call with Walker, forgot about him.. and yep Frost on the way out and i agree, i think we may find there is another contracted player on a clubs list.. so yeah you may be right, it might be 10, that's close to a 1/4 of the list. big turnover, not opposed to it though.

My only thoughts on stretch and JKH is that they would likely be told by now unless they will be used as pawns in other trades?

I think JKH and Wagner will both be cut with Stretch offered a 1 year deal.

I believe Lockhart Wagner and Baker have all signed 1 year deals.

In light of this a good idea would be to let Frost walk as loosing another tall is a good idea!

yeah i tend to think Stretch will retained for cover.. if JKH & Wags get cut then it would stand at 7, plus a Frost on the way out maybe and possibly 1 more.. like Jayden Hunt who might look at opportunities elsewhere (hope not and just speculating) so we might be looking at 8/9 changes. its about right.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
