An article in today's Age on the North Melbourne win and Brown's bag of goals states " North's final round opposition comes in the form of pitiful Melbourne. The medal is Brown's to lose"

I just hope we pick a side that is passionate enough to show some fight and pride and provide some glimmer of hope for we long suffering supporters.

We  won"t! Just watch Oscar if fit line up on him!

Fred Fannings record of 18 goals is there for the taking!!

For those that are going to Blundstone, prepare for 25 minute waiting time for a beer or pie and 15 minute waiting times to take a leak. I shudder to think of the waiting time for the ladies...

A disgrace of an AFL venue.

Also be prepared to wait 25 minutes for Melbourne to score a goal each Qtr so co-ordinate your movements.

put spargo on brown and we can all back brown to win the coleman.

Not a bad idea.

Was also hoping we'd rest Gawn this week and give little Charlie the gig on Goldstein.

Oscar McDonald should play.

Will give Sideshow Bob an escort to each of his 20 marks, and gives us a tall to stand the mark for each of the 15 goals he kicks.

Sounds like Max will play (?WTF??!!).

Chandler is out with a broken finger (how many times did Goody have to slam it in the locker, do you reckon?)

SHould play Preuss and OMAc.  Play Max forward, Omac on McFlopper and Frosty on Norton.

Presumably O'Mac and Petty come back in for ... whoever. We need some height, and they're the only ones left standing. One goes forward, one goes back, take your pick.

Preuss ... maybe, he's been so underwhelming. Depends on Max.

Rather see Spargo in the team at CHBack than have OMac back in the team...anywhere at all!

Dont rest Max its the last game of the season, it would mean a lot to not get destroyed.

Insanity.

Rest the f$&@ out of Gawn (and Lever).

Further to this, if Max does play and sustains a serious hamstring injury, Goodwin gets the sack immediately.

Looks like anyone who is fit will play.  Bring on Saturday afternoon so this nightmare year is over

Salem and Hibbo both in the rehab group today apparently. Could just be a light run given the time of year of course, but Salem surely in big doubt.

Out

  1. Inept Coaching
  2. Inept selections
  3. Players that clearly are not and never will be up to it ( That accounts for about 7 )

In

  1. Man on man footy
  2. Selections that include TALLS
  3. Inspirational Captaincy
  4.  Gut busting running and tough footy

Who ever is still standing..............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get ready for a 10 goal loss, or more. The Kangas will murder us, for sure.

I reckon they will think they have it won already and could be vulnerable....

Footy can become that way, '...anyone who is fit...' gets a guernsey; sad really. I cannot remember (ever) feeling this way about a footy season - '...so this nightmare year is over...'

If the MFC turns a corner with form and game readiness, I will renew membership after the 5th round of the 2020 fixture.

What I'd really like to see is players who dominate at Casey play in the seniors in the same positions in which they dominate the seconds. In other words, I'd like to see what ANB and JKH might do as proper on-ballers rather than being played in different positions. I'm not sure who else, but I've never understood why they aren't given that opportunity or, conversely, why they don't play at Casey in the role they are expected to play in the seniors.

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
