If the club are happy with Mahoney's work over a period of time then you trust him - along with guidance from the CEO and Board and input from the other leaders of the footy department - to make the changes as required.

An external review would probably only find the same problems that we can all see. Then it may or may not propose a solution of sacking Mahoney or Goodwin, both of which seem unlikely. So skip that step and get on with Mahoney and Goodwin getting in people they think will help.

How could the club be happy when we still haven't won a premiership? Did Richmond have an external one at the end of 2016 or was it just internal?

We have trusted them and they have failed in all ways possible.

I am not sure the best assistants and staff in the world would be able to help Goodwin. He is too stubborn and obviously out of his depth

He is dead man walking in my view.Too difficult to come back from where he has put himself and the club.

Put him and the supporters out of their collective misery. Nothing can really change between now and midseason 2020.

I challenge your assertion that Goodwin is stubborn and out of his depth. Unless you are in the club you have no idea what he is like.

Looks like a stunned mullet in the box but you are right dont know him at all. Can I be allowed to judge him on his performance?

Challenge all you like. You must know him very well if you know for sure he isn't stubborn.

5 years of sustained improvement and a good finals showing? I don't know who Richmond got to review their footy department, I think it was Gale the CEO and the President deciding to bring Balme in and a number of assistant coach changes. But there were obviously a fair number of people - Hardwick, the fitness staff, some of the coaching group - who stayed as well.

If the things Mahoney and Goodwin were doing that led to 10 wins, 12 wins and then 14 wins and 2 finals last year  could suddenly change to this year why exactly can't they change again to more success?

Ill add in another factor...the lingering Roos effect. As we get further away from any influence  of Roos and now either it's worn off or been systematically disassembled  then the team plays more and more according  to the Goodwin doctrine.

Before you might possibly  respond  with...but oh what about the tail end of last year...ill again speak of my analogy to a nitro infused engine. Hit the red button and you'll  take off like a rocket. ..but is inly meant for short bursts...otherwise  you cook the engine.

This is exactly  how we played for a while when we started winning. It was at a frenetic pace (nitro on ) . But as Macca/Goodwin race team knew nothing of tempo etc the team ran....until it couldn’t. ( dodnt turn nitro OFF) Not  only couldn't  run but in their buggered state were even more susceptible to injuries , hence the abnormally  larger number of surgeries etc required.

Goodwin  burnt the list. Enter 2019 and further removed from any Roos influence together with some freshies then the total Goodwin/Macca game is in effect.

Went marvellously didn't  it.

I don't know him at all, but I was talking to someone last week who does. Regards him as a 'good mate' and has reasonable shared footy history.

Totally unprompted by me he volunteered that Goody's a 'control freak' who 'won't listen to anybody'.

There was more that suggests he won't seek or listen to a new mentor figure.

Could be why Jennings ideas weren't heard.

The MFC website isn't a news outlet (neither is the AFL website). It is a marketing opportunity and therefore only presents a story that satisfies the interests of the MFC. It is therefore not going to be critical of the MFC. Ergo, it can't be trusted.

Sounds credible. I wish I had "good mates" who described me in that manner.

So now we're taking Tom Browne's word as gospel with all his "suggested", "unclear", "questions", "sources", "understood" weasel words style of journalism?

I thought the consensus on Demonland was that Tom Browne was useless and unreliable, but those who can't wait to stick the boots in whenever possible are happy to take his latest effort as the truth.

Are you confusing your Tom's stone? Or, maybe I am. I thought the muck-raking, drop the Dee's in in at every opportunity one was toe-cheese Tom Morris. I'n not trying to lend credibility to the Browne Tom's 'suggestions' - just checking though.

Hmm Jennings...known league wide as an A grade strategist. Was considered a coup getting him.

Joins a Goodwin/Macca box

Sits there..hardly any bro on bro action.   EVER !!

We play as though we have NO strategy.

Strategist leaves.

Dot...dot dot.....dot dot dot !!!

No, he Russian, actually, changed his name from Chaliapin, famous Russian Bass voiced Opera singer. That's why he doesn't seem too animated in the box, he's got Boris Goodunov playing on his earphones. Don't believe me, hey? I have inside information. That's why he was sacked. Goodwin only likes Rossini

How about we get together a 'think tank ' of  thoughtful, intelligent and sensible demonlanders to replace the assistants leaving the dees.

That leaves me out, but who here could participate and  help lead the dees back to glory ???

Me. I'd have them playing Wagner and Beethoven on their ear phones while the coach talked his twaddle.

But Goody's the man.

Plapp went because he wore pointy toed shoes when he coached VFL. I know this for a fact. I've seen them with my own 4 eyes. They were totally incongruous in a sea of footy boots...

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
