Yes venom and vitriol seem to have given way to resignation and apathy... post- finals back to the trade period and draft for a lift in spirits coming soon watch this space ...

Say what you like about his afl capabilities but 75 hit outs by the big man preussy is not a bad effort.

The concrete mitts being put to good use...

He needs to play final 2 AFL games to help build some level of confidence at the top level. He's an exciting prospect if he can get the basics going

Sorry to say it but hit outs is an irrelevant stat these days. It's hit outs to advantage and round the grounds possession

He's a capable 1st ruck - he was good against Carlton and Kreuzer, strong in the ruck contest and provided a good marking target down the line.  From MFC pov he's good injury insurance for Max but they can't both play together because neither has good forward craft.  The move from North is not so good for Preuss, particularly if Goldy is moving on this year - but we all knew that this time last year and were puzzled by his thinking.

Meanwhile Redleg, I would like to offer my thanks to those who have gone to the trouble of posting.

Looking forward to the detailed summary.

Want to see Bedford given a go in the last 2 rounds. Hope he can show something in the next few weeks.

He struggles to get a kick at Casey, what makes you think things would change in the AFL?

Wonder what sort of money he is on.

The statement was hope to see Bedford.  Hope he shows something.   But so far like many others, he has not had a good year. Still very young and needs a big preseason

Slightly dispute/add to that, by saying when the players who receive his pill are being constantly dragged down without taking possession, incorrectly tackled and lack peripheral, then it seems like killing a great art, and we have  the current palm/flick on, which any mug can do, now that the maggots have relaxed the rule....... with applause from the media rabble.

It’s indicative of what he has the ability to one day achieve, however. The big lump is still developing.

A LITTLE RAY OF SUNSHINE by KC from Casey

Two clubs that have been hard hit by injury recently took part in a dour battle under dark clouds and, with intermittent showers falling, it wasn’t a pretty game at Victoria Park on Sunday.

Despite all that, the Casey Demons added a little ray of sunshine to their day to get the job done over a "traditional" rival with a 15 point victory over Collingwood VFL that breathed life back into their season.

There were a few highlights at the ground that in past days has seen many titanic battles between Demons and Magpies. Coach Sam Radford was forced to shuffle his team around to cater for Melbourne’s upcoming five day break but the sheer dominance of Braydon Preuss in the ruck was certainly memorable. Returning from one week in Max Gawn’s big shadows, the giant ruckman amassed 75 hit-outs and had 19 disposals to turn the game in his team’s favour.

Defenders, Marty Hore (playing against his old VFL club) and Declan Keilty stopped countless Magpie attacks and were responsible for keeping them down to just two goals to the final break. Indeed, Collingwood was kept goalless from the nine minute mark of the opening term until early in the last such was the stregth of performance of the Casey back half.

Also impressive was Josh Wagner who had the run with role on Magpie skipper Alex Woodward and the two engaged in a fascinating contest throughout the day with the Demon’s two goals proving crucial to his team’s victory.

As usual, the Casey effort was helped by the reliables - former skipper Jack Hutchins and the hard man Jimmy Munro while Luke Tynan, who began his career at the club before spending some time at Port Melbourne, celebrating his 150th VFL game with a meritorious performance and was one of his team’s best.

The win moved the Casey Demons into the top eight by two premiership points over the Box Hill Hawks who have a game in hand so that next week, when the Demons head to Casey Fields for their last home and away match of the season, they must defeat an improving Frankston and hope that Box Hill drops one of its two remaining games to play off in this year’s finals series.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
