Don't know...

I'm just looking forward to seeing what excitement the draft offers

Yet, all this talk of top up players is not overly exciting

Can we be more inventive? Find another Clarrie?

I'm hoping we can do both. We need to be reasonably busy this offseason IMO, not over the top or 'scattergun', but more than just the one trade and one high pick. Bringing in a mix of trades, draftees and free agents will hopefully improve our list, especially our depth which got found out a bit this year.

Couldnt agree more, it doesnt have to be wild and erratic signings just because, but be calculated, be a bit bold and use our position wisely. There is a great opportunity to find best 22 players and also upgrade depth which is just so important, i would argue you need 5/6 players who walk into the team if needed and can impact..

did we have any this year?

On face value, Tomlinson looks like a great fit - but, my alarm bells are thus: dropped for the first time in four years for Deledio??

Is Tomlinson not considered the future?

Just wary, thas' all....

I think what would get the FD excited about Tomlinson is his running ability, he is a committed 2 way runner, and a hard worker, something we lacked this year.

Im not sure why they went with an ageing Deledio and clearly one who was very vulnerable to injury, they are lucky they got away with it.

It seems the reasons for Tomlinson’s absence last weekend weren’t necessarily form-related.

He’ll likely play against the Lions this weekend anyway, so we can all pay attention to him.

Maybe GWS know he's leaving.

This was my first thought when I read he was dropped, he played all 22 games, played well in round 23, and wasn’t injured.

Everyone is linked to St Kilda this year.

It would seem so.

Yer they might as well just have a list of players who aren't going to st kilda.

Yeah so from what I can gather, there’s speculation that GWS will have to turf a player at season’s end to accomodate a re-contracted Whitfield, and that player is Tomlinson.

Might’ve been a little ugly over there when word got out. So they played Deledio in his place and he got injured, so they’ll likely have to put AT back on the field (pending Deledio’s scans).

Awkward!

But take what I say with a grain of salt. A lot of the time I really have no idea what I’m talking about. I’m just riffin’ here.

Favourites to land him according to the Age.

Not sure how I feel about it. He's certainly a better wing option than just having no one. But he doesn't bring pace or great skills and more than anything he's just very nice.

Chaired off Deledio so that might put to rest any rumours of ill will. Probably one of the smarter and more professional guys around. Might end up in our leadership group. Might end up at Casey.

Trusty Tom Browne seems to think we are the favourite. Interesting to hear Roosy on the couch think he's not what we need.

Roosy said he was surprised because he thought we should be targeting outside run.

He may be right, but without the hindsight of knowing all the offseason moves it's pure speculation.

Tom Brown cops a fair stick but he called this weeks ago before anyone.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons are back on the road again and this may be the last roll of the dice to get their 2025 season back on track as they take on the Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
