Just saw a grab on Ch 7 News saying that the Melbourne Football Club players are stopping their supplements regimen after fears the supplements they are taking may have been contaminated.

The full story to come on the late news. I see nothing about it on social media. It’s a watch this space story.

The year we are having, anything is possible.

I think ours were contaminated with Mogodon or Valium.

Nothing to see here. She tested positive for Ligandrol, a company that manufactures supplements which are approved by the AFL are not going to add anything illegal, including LGD 4033, to their supplements. I dare say she’s provided a list of what she’s taken, and left off the LGD4033.

ITS on the back of Shayna Jack, the female swimmer. Presumably, we may have been using the same supplements that she was.

Has it been proven to be a contaminated supplement she took?

If so neither she nor we have anything to worry about.

IF it was a banned substance and MFC players were taking it, it would be wiped off the list from now on.

A legitimate manufacturer isn’t going to cross-contaminate a legal supplement with LGD4033, a prohibited substance. She’s screwed.

The club should ask for their money back. The supplements(snake oil) don’t work.

Its all starting to make sense now......Why McDonald was missing goals from 20m out.....why Angus looks lost and players were not taking shots from 25m.......and Pruessy manning the mark the wrong way......theyre on the good stuff!

I think the Dees will be fine here. Sad truth is if our whole team did happen to get rubbed out for a year for doping, we would only drop one ladder position.

Don’t bet on it Ethan, having sat in about 15 lectures from ASADA, cross contamination is one of the leading factor in positive drug tests in athletes. Every athlete (and coach) from about 14 years of age that has any involvement with Australian and state based teams must complete a host of education measures including completing an online module provided by ASADA. I myself have to complete this module yearly to remain qualified to coach on teams. In those modules it discusses the very topic consistently.

Heres an interesting article on the Shayna Jack issue:

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/athletics/athletes-should-not-trust-supplement-labels-says-ex-wada-boss-20190731-p52clv.html

And a link to the topic on the ASADA website:

https://www.asada.gov.au/substances/supplements-sport

interestingly Swimming Australia is sponsored by a supplement company, so they must be considering their position right about now.

Might also explain why Trac swam toward the bottom of the pool rather than across it Wadda.

It's pretty clear whatever they are they don't work

Not defending her  but have been told that manufacturers often make different supplements using the same equipment so there is a possibility contamination can occur.

Cause no Aussie athlete would take performance enhancing drugs on purpose.
We're far too righteous for that.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
