It’s pretty sad when you arrive at the point where you are that starved of sporting team supporting success, where you almost wish your team would just shut the doors and put you out of your misery..

I’m almost at that point with the MFC. After 43 years of ups and mostly downs, the adrenaline injection I got during finals last year turned me into a success starved junkie....now Im chasing a taste of the good stuff again...

I fear I’m not going to see it again, at least in the short term.

It really does ruin my weekends. I wish I didn’t care so much...

100% sums it for me.

Decent forwards? Huh? They're average at best.

Next week it's Lynch and Riewoldt. Every team knows who to target. If Oscar plays 186 isn't out of the question.

Sorry, did you make a typo. I assume you mean Twiggy Lever. His turn overs directly cost us 4 goals. Pathetic. What was the losing margin?

Our highest paid player can't hit a target 25 metres away. Gets a free pass.

If the club gets a pass for injuries this year from you, then surely Lever who is 3 games in from a 12 months knee reco gets the same luxury?

suggests there is a disconnect and/or lack of intent in regards to the gameplan. In some regard it does come back to the coach. We know how good they can be because they were literally ranked 1st at one point. They are now playing and coaching themselves into the ground. Astonishing.

When the turnovers come down to skill errors and poor execution (eg Salem's floater to Brayshaw) I think that comes down more to execution than gameplan.

Goodwin has things he needs to work on too and if he doesn't he'll have a short coaching career but it's hard to blame him for the constant turnovers and skill errors.

Yes and no.

Yes for game rust and taking time to pick up the speed of the game.

No for missing targets less than 30 metres away under no pressure as result of a woeful kicking technique.

Aan issue that by the by was evident in his first 10 or so underwhelming games for the dees before his injury (coming off his best season).

Putrid? We lost by 3 goals and that only blew out from a neck and neck game in the last 10 minutes. Saints aren't the best team going but to act like we got hammered from pillar to post is garbage. Save that for next week when it actually happens

Goodwin: We were outplayed for majority of the night. In the end, we were lucky to be in it.

Even the coach doesn't support your pollyanna viewpoint

Membery loves playing against us. He has kicked 26 goals against us. His next favourite beetch club is Carlton with 16. Bruce does well too. We are third on his beetch list behind North and Essendon.

Conveniently didn’t show a replay of this on fox

i don’t even care. Pick 2 is better than beating the saints. A win against Collingwood is enough for me for the rest of the year.

Apologist number 2 rears his head.

You clearly didn't watch.  We were putrid. Gifted them 14 goals. We were 3 goals up after 3m and were hammered in nearly every stat.

Nah mate I watched from siren to siren. I just used two eyes instead of one.

Mate we were never a chance. That Saints aren't that good is a GOOD thing because if we play like that vs Richmond we will lose by 20 goals.

That was a putrid performance. We may not have been *hammered* persay, but we were begging for the Saints to hammer us.

I hope like hell the optimists are right and next year with a fit list everything will be bloody hunky dory again. God I hope you guys are right. What the hell do we do if last year was the aberration and 2019 is normal programming resuming?!

They will find more excuses ofc.

Free to St Kilda for high tackle by Petracca and goal.

Platitudes. But for the Henny Pennys it's all just affirmation that the sky is falling

Ok so in that case we can agree that our awful skills across the board have nothing to do with injuries, and just simply putrid footballers?

So within 12 months mths this club has managed to reverse all the improvements since 2014 when Roos & Jackson too over to rebuild the last rabble. We are a sick footy club once again & yet we hear zero from President or CEO & they expect to accept this basket case of a season... the silence is deafening & good luck signing even 1/2 of the 50k members. Clubs sell hope & improvement. We have gone backwards by 5 years!

Too true to be funny ! Sad but correct

I think we might finish 19th. Given our playing list, Selections not only this week,

But long before and our lack of Footy Nous and  shizzzen Captains and questionable  selections.... Not Too mention coaching! Yeah about Right!! Yep 19TH well done Hip Hip Horray MFC!

In 7 of our last 10 games we have either been ahead or within one kick at 3/4 time. 8 games if you include Brisbane where we were level very late in the 3rd quarter.

Our record is 2 wins 6 losses in those 8 games. Of the 2 wins, one was against Freo with 2 players down, the other against Carlton where we still got overrun in the last quarter (although being 3 down was a significant factor). In the others, we've been regularly overrun in final quarters.

What is the cause? Are we not fit enough? Do we freeze up when the game is up for grabs?

We were very poor tonight for the majority of the game. But even still, we were within a kick at 3/4 time and got completely overrun yet again.

Hopefully we've added final quarter fadeouts right near the top of the ever-growing end-of-season to do list.

Can anyone name a single thing that has improved on last year? This is a genuine question because I can't think of anything.

I'm putting the ball much better. And I'm hitting the occasional draw off the tee, which I never used to do.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
