Gutsy calls by Pyke to drop Eddie and Hinkley to drop Dixon.

Also a gutsy call a few weeks for Teague to drop McGovern for being unfit, not to return until he is.  Big call for a coach wanting to win every game.  Good on him for setting standards early.

Good examples of difficult calls to maintain the integrity of selection decisions and set behavioural standards; Walk-the-Talk.

The ever classy Betts:  “Yes a bit disappointed on being dropped,” Betts said.  “But at the same time super excited that this kid gets another run at AFL level, turn it on little brother.”

I think I want the tigs to beat the pies.

If there can be some miracle performed so the suns can beat essendon this week that would be great, but it won't happen.

I reckon Carlton can beat the crows.

Sheesh, lucky the Pies have the Suns next week. What a hammering so far.

Richmond looking unbeatable.

2 very high quality talls and the resting ruck. Following that up with remarkable skill when the ball hits the deck.

Clever of AFL to have Maggots in YELLOW  !!!

I couldn’t stand another Richmond flag for family reasons, cocky bunch they are, I totally agree with you though FITB.

Agree back at ya DZ. How unbearable, I don't even want to imagine it.

Tigers coming good at the right time of year, will be flag favourites after tonight if they weren’t already

Is Buckley the Right Guy?

Yeah, at least for another couple years.

Injuries + loss of confidence = sound familiar?

Collingwood board on Bigfooty is in meltdown atm.

There is a huge disconnect between Grundy and their mids atm. They are quite literally struggling in the same areas we are.

Eddie, mate, nobody's listening, because nobody gives a flying.

Bye, have a great weekend!

King King Eddie...

Should be unemployed

Yep, and with a game plan that is closest in style to ours of any team.

But hold on, i thought the pies, cats, west coast slow, chip it around, cross to the fat side  and maintain possession model is unbeatable and  where the game is heading and Goody has failed to keep up with premiership winning trend in footy.

I'm confused. Perhaps that's the not the case after all.

Commentator watch:  Mr Ling was able to say ‘lowered the eyes’ three times in about 20 seconds.  A pumpkin that love the sounds that his farty breath makes.  Severn team are ‘boisterous briahhhn, creepy Bruce and special comments from the peanut brigade.

Brian is just so bad as a commentator, i think he is actually getting worse!!

Every time De Geoy goes near the ball he looks for a free kick. Arms flapping and head flying back

Don't think it'll be too long now.

I am very angry that Eddie has been allowed to stay in the Media unscathed, after his King Kong comments, twice...

It really stinks

“They’re a couple of good looking boys, Eddie’s kids” - Bruce going full creepy ped.

I didn’t year that but a couple of comments later were ...... well, quite creepy.

Sad really.  Gone on far too long.  Was one of my favorites early on.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
