5 possessions or less:

Brayshaw, ANB, Preuss, Fritsch, Lockhart, Hannan, Dunkley, Frost (though honorable mentions to Petty and Jetta).

We can go easy on Lockhart and Dunkley. Only been part of afl for a few weeks and never done a pre season etc etc. others Ned to lift though brayshaw is injured clearly today

You get the feeling the Dogs will eke out a three goal lead this quarter and hang on for a one goal win.

We can't get clean possession and our game plan is so physically taxing.

Jetta looks a mile of the pace. ANB, Harmes and Jones have been horrible with ball in hand.

Oliver up forward hasn't worked.

May and Lever good. Viney useful. Petty couple of nice things.

Lewis shouldn’t be watching the game without a blanket.

BBO just texted me to say he was watching with a blanket, and nothing else under.

we have not played well, but we are still in this with a good chance of wining. a lot of players down, maybe someone can try to quieten the dogs dunkley he seems to have been pivotal in their scoring so far.

We are without doubt the worst skilled club in the AFL...

It’s really poor isn’t it. We didn’t look like this last year tho. I can’t believe they suddenly don’t seem to know what to do w the ball... or if it they do 50% of the time they miscue the execution. It’s hard to watch...and if they do win it will come as a big surprise. As it has done all year.

Someone on Demonland suggested during the week that Petty go forward...well said.

May, Lever. Professionals in the back line. Plenty of time in our forward 50.  But I don't think we've got the cattle up forward, or the game plan, to win. Hope I'm wrong.

Any news on Gus's injury?

So the thread seems to be mostly negative but I think there are some positives in there. For one this it's one point the margin and anyone's game, it's been swinging in momentum but both teams are stifling each other, which is a surprise given both teams styles of play. I wonder if our match committee felt to try to match the dogs in outside run this year would be a mistake as we are getting caught out too much with two way running.

We are winning at clearances, Gawn and Pruess are giving our players silver service (Gawn moreso obviously), we just need to start taking better advantage of it. If both rucks are on the ground then they need to be more separated, a few times they were right near each other and it eliminates the advantage of having the tall timbre rather down the line.

To sum up for me, we aren't playing well but we're not playing great. We are still getting done with sub par forward entries and basic skills.

Zero doubt in my mind that we can win from here and stuff up my tipping.

Lewis and Clarry dominating the clearances with 6 each.

Petracca looks angry and playing very well

dogs fans are a disgrace

lever reading the play well at the back

Our forward entries are shitful. Viney and Lockard picking out Bulldog defenders completely on their own. Couldn't train that skill.

Don't Have Forwards who can take marks or hold the ball in, thats why ball coming back at so quickly. How many marks have dogs defenders taken? Forwards not leading well hence our mids are kicking too poor areas.

Good post. I just don't think we can convert forward 50 entries to scores. It's so bloody hard, the way we do it.

Play in front Hannan!!

Clarry held by the guernsey going forn the ball no free.

Jettais absolutely cooked

Very very weak from Jonesy. Put your body on the line.

Absolutely  haven't  got a clue about front arc footy...pathetic really at this level. Mind boggling  actually.

I hate what what football has become. The inconsistency of the umpiring for one has got to be addressed.

Gawn clearly  held in ruck contests...frees ?? sigh

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
