Fritsch forward to replace Tom.

Gawn back in his usual brilliance. 2 weeks for a sprained ankle is about right.

Keep Preuss in. He’s a great mark and a long kick. He had a good game today.

Lever to the backline to replace Hore.

Maynard or Jordon in for potential and development. They did well at Casey. The Wagners are just no good.

How close is Nev to a call up? Is 1 VFL game enough? Jetta into the backline, Fritsch forward?

Spoke to him before game today. He hopes to be available for selection this week.

Gawn to replace TMac is probably fine, although we don't want to be too tall at Marvel against the Dogs.

I can't see a good argument for OMac getting Petty's spot, the more so if Lever comes in for Hore. I'd like more run, whether that's JKH or J Wagner.

i would like to see ANB replaced, his 15 disposals at a 54% efficiency rate was again poor. he needs to go back to casey and learn to dispose of the ball and kick straight. It will be good to have lever in next week, though something needs to be done about the way Frost, May and Lever play together. Frost often goes for the mark and or the punch and too often has had May crashing into the the pack to punch the ball, which often takes out half of our back line players and allows the opposition to run into goal.

Saw the Lewis bump again.

Late got him flush in the head. Probably low impact but it was intentional. Think that might be a week still but not expert in all the BS rules

We manged to keep the ball locked in our fwd 50 for most of the first half and ANB we great with his run, chase and pressure. No way he goes out. I think it'll be injury replacement only, if Gawn is ready then he'll bully English and it should be a big advantage. Lever will be back as well. I think they'll also bring in omac for petty, so the same team structure is kept

Who says Petty will miss? Lots of players play a week following a concussion.

I like Frost forward idea

Fast, defensive run covers the switch

Will hopefully have Preuss forward

Frosty is up there among my favourite players  Graeme YM

Love his enthusiasm  and the excitement he brings

However, my heart could do without the “excitement “ of Frostball kicking for goal

Well, where do we start?

Jake Lever replaces Marty Hore (collar bone)

Max Gawn replaces Tom McDonald (knee)

Oscar McDonald replaces Harry Petty (concussion)

Was Petty’s Concussion that severe?

I dunno

Torp from 60 would be good

Nev only played a half, so I doubt they will bring him in

Well they shouldn’t

Would be a decent chance to miss anyway with Lever coming back in. Don't need 4 tall defenders against the Doggies IMO.

To replace Tommy Mac

Lever is back

Because Frost was sooooooooo good as a forward last time we tried?

Yeah, nah.

Don’t disagree but with Hore a definite out I think Lever will play a sweeper role. Frost and May can both play small and I think Petty has showed enough to be given as much experience as possible at the top level.

agreed

(now you watch - christian always goes suspension-hunting after a pies loss...lewis to cop a week or two guaranteed)

are we 100% sure that gawn will be right to go? will they bring jetta back despite his form looking less than ideal in the magoos?

IN: lever, gawn, j wagner
OUT: t mac, hore, petty

if lewis goes then you'd expect baker would be back in or jordon may debut

tbh i'd probably take either of those over j wagner, but they might want extra mid-size defensive coverage

won't play jetta. he only got a 1/4 in the magoos

Definitely not against Petty playing, but on a quick deck against a 'smaller' quicker team I would guess the selection committee would be looking at changing up the mix of talls anyway.

Why do Carlton supporters boo fair goals that the opposition team kicks?

Yep, because they are morons.

You’re probably right. I guess winning is not really a motivator for me at this stage of the season. I look forward to seeing the kids develop and getting something positive out of this horrible year.

We are only 3 wins plus % out of the 8!!!!

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
