I am utterly staggered that we're half way through the season and we're still seeing the 'play on at all costs and handball to a teammate under the pump' scenario every time we touch the ball. It simply has to be the coaching, and I'm absolutely sick of it.

what rot, goodwin is not responsible for our poor kicking and turnovers. we had virtually the same number of shots for goal as the pies, it is not his fault that our players cannot kick a goal, hit a target by foot or by hand.  the players are the ones on the field who needed to stand up and play but they did not. dropping easy chest marks, fumbling the ball, not chasing, not tacking... i doubt any of these were part of the coaches game plan. Salem had 8 turnovers, a player playing in the backline turning it over so often will result in the opposition scoring. Garlett was woeful, while spargo did some ok things he also screwed up a few things that would have made a difference. Not sure what value Wagner gave us, mcdonald was woeful, Hannan probably needed another week in the VFL to get some match fitness rather than playing. Angus's disposal efficiency was down and both of our captains did not provide a lot of assistance. So not sure how the coach can cop all the blame given the above.

Are you serious or having a Joke??

It is the job of the Senior Coach to have the team prepared.

The skill levels of the entire team is about Under 12’s

Nothing has changed all year...

Huge question marks over Goodwin.

Same problems week in week out, structure is a mess which is a huge contributing factor to skills being so poor.

Disappointing just because I deluded myself in to think this would be better, but really it was just more of the same: getting heaps of the ball but just not translating it in to goals.

Heaps of positives from this game though. Lever at 80% added heaps. I thought May in his first full game was good. Our whole backline looked far more cohesive and kept us alive in the first half. Hannan got better as the game went on. Weideman slowly but surely hitting form and becoming a forward threat again. It might be that thing of deluding myself again but I truly think we’re not as far off as ladder position might suggest.

Thought Maxy deserved a paragraph of his own. He is simply immense. He’s playing as a genuine midfielder now without giving up any of his other strengths. If we were winning he’d be being lauded as the best player in the game on current form.

Max is a true leader.

Lever and May will get better with more games.

Weid will improve but hopefully sooner than later.

Thought Hore was solid again.

We will delist 8 players this year.

Hopefully we score a gun full forward and a ghood replacement for Jones and things will pick up.

The bad sign was so many of our team smiling and chatting after game. They have written this year off which is understandable but not a good look.

If you cant kick accurately and you cant mark... might as well handball and run.

The only current upside (for me) is that my son is only 8 weeks old, so he can't fully appreciate how bad we are right now, or what I've done to him by preparing him for life as a Dee.

He watched today's game on my lap and fell asleep. Smart kid (chose not to watch, and also got some much needed shuteye).

Unfortunately Goodwin is a bust, a mistake, we have moved better people on, Daniher, Bailey , Balme, it’s all over, will not last the next few weeks, in there trying his hardest, but it’s not good enough, and while we are at it move the good old  boys on as well, Viney, Mahoney, and Taylor, and Pert was another blunder, just sitting back praying is not an option, disgraceful.

The goal kicking yips have spread through the team like influenza this season.

TMac having a good old laugh with Moore at the end. Go AWAY. Play with your brother at Casey and put him on the trade table. I’d take Roughead for a season over ever playing this idiot again

As part of a fresh 2020 campaign (following a solid, injury-free preseason, smart recruitment, delistings, and devising a gameplan), we need a new captain. One, not two. And preferably not Viney. I like him, but he's been off the boil for a long time, and Jones won't/shouldn't be around much longer.

Who do give the role to? I think Maxxy would be great, but I also think it might be too distracting for him, he already does so much.

The coaches need to take responsibility for the lack of development with Clayton Oliver. How can he still continue with these instant handballs, if he holds it for a bit longer and draws a tackler it would open up the whole field but instead he insists on flicking it instantly to a player under pressure. Unfair on him as most of them do it, but he is capable of so much more. Our centre clearances are embarrassing, Harmes in the first quarter typified why we are rubbish, gets the clearance with all the Collingwood mids behind him and elects to bomb the ball in when he easily could have ran and carried the ball and guaranteed a score.

6.13 to 12.3 after quarter time.

I'm giving Goodwin until round 8 next year. Can't see him surviving mich beyond this year after two of three years missing finals.

This year was a failure after the Saint games.

He appears to have lost the players. Today was a sad sight.

Just want to fix your grammar. He HAS lost the players. I said it last year based on what I was hearing.

It's the worst MFC forward line I've seen in 30 years.

There's no magic in this team.

All options are on the table in October. No-one bar Gawn, Oliver, May and Lever untouchable.

I think TMac is injured but having a laugh at the end was a bad look. Disappointed.

Was at the game. Great summary nasher.

But Viney's lack of a right foot is now a huge issue. All clubs know this.

Nothing wrong with the way we move the ball through the middle, but why do we turn to jelly as soon as it goes inside 50?

Goodwin is the one who stated "We are building something special".

Fraudulent statement. We have seen the proof all year.

While there are issues I would suggest the teams ability to execute simple skills is more of an immediate concern.

Im not saying Goodwin has nothing to answer for, I am not on the simpleton bandwagon that it's his fault.

Whats another year terrible year in the grand scheme of 6 decades of tripe.

It's a lot easier to tear things down and start again then it is to build something special

Was at the game. I had a great view of Tom McDonald. He hobbled all game and struggled to break into a run. I fear that he has been mismanaged and should be rested the rest of the season to fix a very obvious injury.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
