The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread

Tomlinson is cr@p. Marks the ball, a million decisions go through his mind so he freaks out and kicks it long down the line everytime. will definitely slow down our ball movement.

no idea why we aren't interested in Papley. he is exactly what we need. exactly.

Here’s how I think this is going down.

GC will get the priority pick and 2 becomes 3, not ideal but they probably need all the help they can get just now. Anderson is out of reach and so we do the following:

Langdon for pick 21

Tomlinson as FA

option 1 (left field): We get Jamie Elliot as FA and we take pick 3 to the draft for Young

option 2: We trade 3 to GWS for 12 and 15 and go for players like Ash and Cody Weightman.

IMO Ash wont be there at 12, he is a bona fide top 10 pick. I think we need Lachie Young, but i feel like we are going to split the pick, so we are going to get 2 players. Jamie Elliott will not leave the pies and the Pies wont let him, they have invested so much in him, thats a pipe dream.

You may well be right; however, it IS pipe dream season.

I am sitting a long way from the corridors of power in the MFC but even I hear a few whispers now and then.

Not really earth shattering or anything new. Langdon is an all but done deal unless a wrinkle develops. We are in the mix for Tomlinson with"what is being termed "a better than even chance."

We have also had advanced talk with a forward that has been linked to a trade with the Saints. This rumour is very flimsy and there does not seem to be much to it so I will not pass on any further details at this stage.

Ben King has been linked to the Saints... I suspect we have an interest also.

I reckon Ah Chee from Suns and Ellis Yolman are worth a look.

They can't be any worse then the likes of Stretch, ANB, JKH etc

Also by getting Langdon via trade, Tomlinson as a FA and one or 2 more FAs enables to keep pick 2/3 or try upgrade.

Not too bad without costing much at all

Maybe we have expressed interest in Papley, who knows? It was reported some kind of  clause was triggered in his contract and it now runs until 2023 and there were rumours the Swans could ask for 2 first round picks (which sounds ridiculous to me) from the Blues. If those reports are accurate, would we be willing to part with something that high for Papley?

What do ‘landers think he’s actually worth?

Agreed. Our bottom 6 players who are regularly getting a game are poor, it’s about upgrading these types for better ones. Not every trade is about getting in a star or someone who is going to (potentially) be one.

100%..  thats why Tom cutler should be on our radar, wont cost alot but is better then the bottom 6. refresh the depth, and inject a couple "need players" and get some kids.

Agree D3. We know what our bottom 6 are capable of (not much), time to bring in some unknown quantities and see if we have some luck.

Would pretty much make the off season. We need goal scoring power. We need quality smalls. We need marking options. He’s all of the above.

We should be loading up ok free agents, as they cost us nothing in terms of draft picks and we’ve traded away all our first rounders for years on end now.

To add Elliott and Tomlinson without giving up any picks would be huge for the club. Add in Langdon for a second round pick and that’s a very successful off season to balance out list and add mature talent.

After sustaining a torn ACL in the final match of the 2023 season Jake added a bit to the attack late in the 2024 season upon his return. 2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. The move of “Disco” to a key forward post looks like bearing fruit. Turner has good hands, moves well and appears to be learning the forward craft well. Will be an interesting watch in 2025. Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin
