Justin Westhoff would be worth considering if Port move him on.

Paul Puopolo might get cut from the Hawks.

Both would cost a low salary and nothing in draft picks.

Elliott Himmelberg from the Crows. 198cm key forward.  21yo from Wagga.  Contracted until 2020 but could be a swap for Billy Stretch.

Er, no

One is a best 22 for a top 8 side, the other can’t make the squad of 26 when there’s only 30 players to pick from

I simply think you just can't go past Anderson if GC dont receive a PP. At 189cm he is the perfect prototype of a genuine utility where i see him starting forward and making a sudden impact but also pushing into the midfield later and being a genuine star of the comp.

Next in line I do like Ash, Serong, Flanders and even Young also. I have watched some games of Ash live and he just adds genuine speed and line breaking ability off half back.

Interesting the query with Ash was his ability to play midfield and last week he played as an on baller and amassed 26 disposals 4 marks and 7 tackles. So i thought that was a really good insight into his potential for the future.

Good to hear about Ash getting involved through the middle, 7 tackles is good considering his ability to win his own ball has been a question mark

You may have your Himmelbergs mixed up I think.

You’re confused.  You are thinking of Harry himmelberg from the Giants. His brother Elliott plays for the crows.

As flakey as they have been this season, Port have some amazing young talent that they drafted last year.

Would kill for a kid like Rosee to come our way next year.

Anderson please, if we have pick 2. I did say please...

I think the Bomber fans would pay us to take Cale Hooker after today.

If you think our guys are bad in front of goal have a look at his shot in the second quarter.

Despite what some posters say on here, Langdon is a good outside player and would be a valuable addition to our side. 26 disposals and 2 goals today, as well as huge meters gained. BOG. He’s a talent.

He runs all day, which is a damn sight more than the majority of our players

Trust him to raise his value just before we need to trade for him. Will now cost us a high 2nd rounder instead of a low 2nd rounder.

Are there any posters who think Josh Jenkins from Adelaide is worth a look. Big bodied key forward who appears to be done at Adelaide.

Maybe...if you get him for a fourth or fifth round pick and the Crows agree to pay a chunk of his massive salary for the next two years of his remaining contract

If we get pick 3 in the draft which is likely you'd have to go Caleb serong as a small forward type. Weve lacked a quality small forward badly all year.

Jenkins looks like Tarzan plays, like Jane. Probably the least intimidating 200cm player of all time. 95% of his goals are cheap out the back. He makes Garlett look like a contested beast. Hard pass from me unless we give up pick 80+ and Adelaide pay part of his wage.

more softening up in the little paper today that gc17 are going to get pick 1 and 2

I firmly believe this will be the case. With the consensus top 2 being best mates, and player retention an issue, it makes sense to gift the top 2 to GC. It has worked well at Brisbane. They desperately need it, and then  some more off-field support to boot.

I thought they stopped this?  At best, it was end of round 1 or access to state leagues first was the ‘priority’.  I would be pizzed if we missed on one of these two at the ‘whim of the quim’. (Gill) after the season we have had.

a wasted few years in the UK then ?

Josh Jenkins is like Tmac a second or third tall forward.

If they have salary cap issues I wouldn't mind targeting Harry Himmelberg from the Giants, whilst also a second forward is mobile and a lot younger than Jenkins with more upside

On the number 2 pick - if it happens so be it. Yes we would prefer Anderson and yes it’s not fair but Melbourne have pick 2 (last years prelim) Adelaide pick 3 (playing finals) Sydney pick 4 (Mills and Heeney for late first round picks). Everyone else has won 8+ games. This is probably the perfect moment to give 1 and 2 without too much handwringing from the other bottom clubs.

On the draft - we really cannot go wrong with any of the top crop. Anderson fast, strong and great kick forward and mid. Ash - fast and great kick outside but shown he can play inside, Young - fast and great kick outside who can play inside. Serong - small, fast(ish) great kick can play small forward or inside mid.

Can we have 2 picks??? This is exactly what we need.

the only way it won't happen is if gc17 upset the apple cart by winning a couple of games late in the season

And if it does, I care not.

We took the consensus 1 & 2 in 2009, missing out on Martin at 3, then Cunnington at 4. We’ve all heard it before but Fyfe went at 20 and Cripps at 13, even Oliver at 4.

Our fate won’t be determined by sliding back 1 place in the draft; it’ll be determined by the culture we foster, the bahviours we instill and the standard we set.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
