Smith and Keilty may well assist the Weeds game, show him how it is done. Playing all three up fwd may be a bonus for us.

If they spread, It might help.

Our forwards need also to learn to help one another in packs (1%'s),  using their bodies to shield the marker.

So many little areas,  we have to get more composed and better at.

No idea if hes any good as I try to avoid all things Hawthorn.   Might help even up the Viney loss a little.

He's reasonable, not a star but did allow Shiels and Howe a bit more freedom (they are more natural defensive mids). Means one of them probably tries to go with Oliver a bit more.

We need to play Harmes on O'Meara, rather than get sucked into using Hibberd as a tagger again, O'Meara has more run than Martin and won't try and go forward as often, not having Cousins will hurt them if those other players have to be a bit more accountable.

decent kid.

Brand and Stratton also have injury clouds.  was a tough game yesterday and they have a 6 day break so that might help - god knows we need all the help we can get!

I'm just looking forward to Booing $cully, been a while!

Ir is a balance thing. Leading directs the kick - to space but that kick must also be read accurately to continue the 'connection'. It takes practice; firstly, to be seen by the ball deliverer and secondly, to know more about that feeder's kicking styles, distances of possible kicks to receive and the identification of the spatial requirements to take an effective possession/mark. It is also a perfect training drill involving all forwards and the midfielders - obviously (but not confirmed) - left largely unpractised at MFC training. Knockout feeds produce knockout goals.

MFC must just practice stoppage work all session, and from what I've seen the forward craft is just marks up at the end of training. I was a fan of this when TMc was clunking them, but it seems he is completely and utterly devoid of confidence.

We said the same thing about St Kilda coming off a brutal game (V Hawks) on a 6 day break compared to our 9 day break and look how well that turned out for us.

Surely running under the ball is the fault of the person kicking to him, isn't it?

Sometimes, but not when the ball is in the air long enough that you should be in the appropriate position.

Frost has been our best back so far this season. It is run this team needs more of.

That’s not saying much. Run is fine but where to? I doubt even he knows most if the time.

Truth is he’s been very ordinary along with everyone else back there except Salem.

Yes it can be a lottery when Frost has the pill in hand

But …. he has pace, endurance and is prepared to take the game on and back himself. I'll take those qualities at the moment.

Easily said, Matsuo, but not at all accurately said. Take a closer look and analyse it in its current team configuration.

Yep, and he kept Buddy quiet vs Swans.

Frosty is a risk, but on the right match up he's very useful. Confidence is often the key for him

Preuss, with a body well-placed up fwd against Whoreform (and an attitude for careful aggression) may make a difference and certainly, should take one or two defenders to control at each engagement. A good scenario for some speedy smalls at his nearside or feet. Might work with Jeffy's return, and Spargs. I'd also consider both Smith and Keilty up in the vicinity to support the Weed - or the Weed to support them.

Preuss wont play, got it from a pretty good source!

By the time May comes back it will be round 17 then he plays a couple at Casey. We will be lucky 2 play 3-4 games a gr8 return.

Checked it out bb it is a seriously expensive brew. Might be a bit above my limit.

It's a bit like Drambuie... something you just savour it small amounts. It's worth it ;)

Compared to what you might spend on rubbish...like going to the footy....????

This won't disappoint ;)

Weid should stick it out.... there is really nobody else in s forward structure for the long term, not smith or keilty. Maybe a working through a tough spell will make him a better footballer. Time will tell.

Yes, make him suffer, just like us? LOL. Life wasn't meant to be easy.

Frost has got Omac's job and made a better fist of it. He is not a key position player but has done a good job on Buddy & Hawkins and most of the jobs that Omac could not make contests of. Frost and Salem have been our best backs. Frost has been developed as an intercept halfback and encouraged to use his run at every opportunity. He has got better at choosing when to use his run. Oscar Is too slow to be very useful.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
