God, it's like shuffling deck chairs.

I cannot believe I'm about to write this but here goes...

In - O McDonald (for Reiwoldt or Lunch hahaha) Garlett, Lockhart

Out - Spargo, C Wagner, J Wagner or J Lewis

Out: The embarrassing Spargo.

In: Jeffy. Who has pace, can hit a target & can kick further than 20m.

When the moment and or occasions strike him unfortunately.

We have a huge problem at moment.Do not worry about Goodwin's game plan etc the FACT is we have the following VFL standard players (at present) in (from the back line), Lewis, Hibberd, Jones, Weideman, Hunt, McDonald, Melksham, Petracca, Spargo, Fritsch, Wagner & Wagner. That is 12 players that are not performing to AFL standard. Unfortunately we do not have the players to replace them all. You all saw what the kids did to our 2nd's today. Worrying signs.

Therefore we need to play Garlett for Spargo who has no idea how to play this game as one change and I suspect no other changes. Just hope the others come good. A long season beckons folks.

So many candidates this week to go out, but Spargo is definitely the low hanging fruit. A player who so obviously adds nothing at the moment. Happy to swap him for any of Lockhart, Garlett or Stretch.

After that, dunno.

At least you are honest.

Tbf, the one I will say is Stretch. I know he’s not the saviour, but he’s someone who can provide us what we don’t have, he can run both ways on a wing.

He’s useless

So no more of your posts on here as well then?

Went to the second half of the Tiges game after our game today. They will rip us apart with their leg speed, and will use their entries well with Riewoldt coming back. I've been to the four game in Vic this year, including down to Geelong, and broken my longstanding rule around avoiding replacement bus services at all costs. Wednesday night, PH the next day, trains back on...I'm seriously considering not going. We are a side bereft of confidence, belief, leadership, guts, and instruction at the moment. Everything that could go wrong seems to be going wrong.

I'm sure I'll be roped back in by next Wednesday, [censored] that I am, so here are my changes.

Out: Wagner, Wagner, Spargo, Hibberd

In: O.McDonald, Stretch, Garlett, Kolodjashnij

Hibberd is absolutely bang out of form. We know he's better than this. He needs to sort it out. He is costing us every time he brings it out the back 50. J.Wagner was ok but we have too many of his type at the moment. C.Wagner was abysmal. The less said about Spargo, the better. Stretch and KK aren't perfect, but we need two way runners and hopefully they'll play that role.

Not many options. No point rushing May or Lever this season.

Have they been rushed ? I don’t think so

what are they getting paid for ? When they are fit to play they play FMD

they are not going to make any difference anyway - we are so far off the pace it’s not funny

At the moment we can win the footy but we turn it over and defensively we lack any cohesion

Our ball movement is slow and stagnant; all effort and no effect

We look like a bottom four side, at best

Scary thing is we have our best mids available and they are pathetic at the contest

OUT: Jones (rested), Spargo, Jetta (knee), C Wagner
IN: Stretch, O Mac Garlett, Lockhart

If Kolodjashnij is fit he comes in for Hibberd too, which says how little I rate Hibbo at the moment, cos I don’t think KK is up to much chop as an afl player either

Tiggas will belt the living bejesus out of us methinks

Could not give a flying poo!  Lost interest this club, it just drops manure on its supporters like no other.  Will not go and watch more garbage.  Enough!

Spargo has some of the talent that we need in our best 22 moving forward - he runs, he lowers his eyes when he kicks, and he has a bit of goal nous about him.

Hopefully he can find some form at Casey because we certainly cannot allow him to stay in the seniors in his current form.

Forget pretending, Tommy Mac must go (at least Jones and Hibbard got near the ball) along with Lewis and Spargo...

Where are all those calling for Lewis to come back into the side to add some experience. For Fu.......sake.

He is a liability, the pity is we don't have anyone to replace him.

I was calling for Lewis to come back into the side.

I wasn't calling for him to be played on a wing though.

If that's the role the club thinks is his role in 2019, then he shouldn't be playing at all.

I'd like to at least see him in a role which he might feasibly be capable of playing before calling time.

In , about a dozen or so players from the Australian under 18 team.

Add Clarry, Gus, Max, Pruessy, Melky, Nev, and a few others and

You have a ready made team!!

Both on about 800 Gorillas.per year

I fear for Lever, and his body! May ?? Jury is out there

but between them there is 1.6 Mill per year for the next ?? Years

Hnmm great value!

Looks like they managed his game time (72%) and he also spent some time back.

I think his job is done at the club, it's time to put the cue in the rack.

Salem is going to have to take the organising/leadership role down back and share it with Lever whenever he gets on the park...

As for Spargo, as I said last week his problem is not when he has the ball in hand (apart from a massive clanger this week), it's that he doesn't get it enough and he provides zero defensive pressure.

...the opposition just disregard him when they have the ball, they know he can't do any damage even if he chased and could catch them. They just brush him aside.

In: Jeffy, Stretch, Lockhart, Petty or Keilty

out: Wagners, Spargo, Lewis

jones has got to go to the forward pocket, Hunt back, Fritsch is a goal kicker, he has to go forward

Edited by dave

Out:  Old men being played on the wing handing the game to any team with a few speedsters,   Dopey Key Forwards who have no idea where they should be leading to,  when to double back (on the rare occasions they do) or where the goals are.

In:   Anyone who has some dash who can lower eyes and hit a target onto the wing,  Crumbers down back and up forward,  A speedster or two on the outside who can also hit OUR targets by foot more often than the opposition!

Salem is a weapon down back. I'd like to see him take full ownership over the delivery out of the backline and push to get the ball as much as he can. Needs to be more consistent, but he could play a quarter back role down back. A real game changer. Lever and May back (eventually) will help us a lot. Lewis isn't the answer down back. Its time Salem taken over and stamped himself as a general.

Out: any chance of redemption

In: our first (I suspect of many) 15 goal loss for the season

Who cares?  Its over.

First time poster on the board. Its pretty clear the real changes need to happen within the recruiting department.

We havent drafted (at 18) a good small forward since Wonna a decade ago, we havent drafted a good winger since Scully a decade ago, we havent drafted an intercept defender since Rivers in 2002

For all the pats on the back Taylor recieved for Oliver, we have failed to draft any of the 3 most important types of modern footy.

Wasted way too many picks and time on Smith and Maynard who are both 28, and continuously extended Keilty and JKH who have no place going forward. We were forced to spend 3 first round draft picks in the last few years on May and Lever because we cant develop any of our own defenders. Oscar Mcdonald isnt going to be around in 3 years. Hes an average at best key back.

Not only are all of these things problems, but Jones and Lewis are looking like this should be their last season and Neville Jetta and Hibberd arent going any better.

Feels like we are 3 years away from having a crack at the top 4 again

Commence rebuild.

Fall to the bottom, a couple of years of total embarrassment, at end of year 2 a couple of unexpected wins,.  Engender hope

Climb ladder to mid-table respectability or a little better.  Encourage optimism.

Founder, fall back, get passed by other clubs.

Repeat.

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.

  • GAMEDAY: Sydney

It’s Game Day, and the Demons have a golden opportunity to build on last week’s stirring win by toppling Sydney at the MCG. A victory today would keep them firmly in the hunt for a finals spot and help them stay in touch with the pack chasing a place in the Top 8. Can the Dees make it two in a row and bring down the Swans?
