We can win this

Need to brutalise them in the contest! And make it count on the scoreboard,  FFS

We’re doing well enough at the contest.

IMO what’s more important is our disposal going forward. Stop turning it over and start taking marks inside 50 and I reckon we’ll limit the damage at the other end.

Does Goodwin not understand defence or does he disregard its worth?

We dont dominate the contests at all like we did last year, we play such a high defensive line i dont know why, because our defence is so terrible.

who is the brain child? who is continuing this [censored] message?

I've got a massive 1000 word rant coming up post game.

pathetic half. season is on the line and we're dishing up crap.

petracca turned it over about 5 times that half. disgraceful.

when are the coaches going to address the no defence issue. the structure is completely flawed!

I feel it’s not our players, it’s the game plan Godwin cooked up after the loss to the Eagles. Time to admit the plan is no good. Not only can’t we kick goals anymore, we have turned into the easiest team to kick a big score against.

Lever and May would make no difference at the moment, we’re so far ball side of our defenders.  This is pathetic coaching/structures. The same issues for 3 years, we rectified it last year it’s happened ned again this year.

At least someone on here makes sense.

1. Goodwin can't coach

2. Spargo should never play again

3. Tom McDonald is as bad, if not worse than Oscar

4. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TRADED JESSE HOGAN

Wrong

Right

Wrong

Wrong

What happened to our midfield in that last 10 minutes? Dominated first 20 m than Saints took over.

Membrey must love fixture release day to see how many times he gets to play the Dees

They just mark it at will. Too strong every time.

T- Mac to Membrey FCS

Every [censored] time this [censored] gets hold of us.

Goody swallow your pride and chuck T-MAC back.

You are killing this time right now.

Cue Benny Hill

Now it's Bruce's time to have his annual best game of the year against the Dees.

that was pathetic.

Jeffy Jeffy Jeffy oi oi oi

There is an obvious pattern in our games and Goodwin can’t fix it. Simple as that.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
