It’s ridiculous. The kid should ask to be traded. He is being crucified.  Gets a game. Looks okay then dropped. Spargo was horrible and yet is named again. Ridiculous.

Don't know why we are such clear favourites. We've played maybe 2.5 good quarters all year whereas Saints have played consistent without setting the world on fire. Should be a close game. Could go either way imo.

I think we are clear favourites because we are a better team across the park.

When looking at odds, they make sense to me. We should win. Punters are able to look at things objectively, a luxury that sufferers of MFCSS are not afforded. We may disagree knowing what we know about following a club like Melbourne, but our 1st few rounds were a reflection of an interrupted preseason and now we are starting to click. It will be business as usual sooner than we think I reckon.

I’m tipping us to win with purpose and to restore faith at DL.

Good to see OMAC back at Casey. Glad we didn't bring in a tallish defender as the saints are not that tall. I would have kept Stretch and probably dropped Spargo. Stretch needs a decent run in the senior side.

The structures are more important than the individuals. We need a crumbling forward with low eyes more than we need a billy stretch on Saturday

Agree he should seek a trade.

Great to see Omac finally dropped.

He needs to work on his game but needs to do it in the seconds not the senior side.

Hopefully he gets into form and comes back but only when he is well and truely in form.

Agree, Stretch deserves more of a go

We lose pace with these changes, which is a danger against St Kilda, they cut us to ribbons with run Rd15 last year

Do you mean he'll never make it if he doesn't show something in the seniors?

If so, I agree.

Maybe he won't make it at another club, and is better off and content with being handy depth when the coach requires it. Why can't players make a career of providing 5-10 games of injury cover per year while making the VFL side strong with consistent performances? Every club needs their Brendan Whitecrosses of this world

It's a long season, he'll get his chance

Stretch is not fast, not sure why so many think he offers pace. He is aerobically fit, so he can run long distances. But he is not fast and is not powerful in his running movement.

Oscar is slow and is stinking it up generally and St Kilda have a small forward line so Lewis and Jetta make sense as ins. Lewis offers some composure with ball in hand also. Jetta can lock down on Gresham hopefully.

St Kilda's hard running will only hurt us if we're poor with our ball use. Anything like the first three rounds and we lose.

I'm not confident because of our form but if we can link up well through all areas and if we're efficient inside 50, we should have a comfortable win. Their back six is sketchy.

Cut us to ribbons? They lost by 2 points!!

interesting outs and ins.

Certainly not like for like.

Just seems to hint that there are some schemes afoot in Goodwin's mind with the team and, given the outs, it will be about strengthening the team (as it looks better on this happy day (OMac is out)); rather obviously, whilst the team is named, the positions are unlikely to remain as selected.

Somewhat unlucky Norm.  Both players output not dissimilar.  The differences are certainly marginal but there, with Spargo playing more time forward (generally) than Billy.  Hence scores a little more as a result and also  pressures/tackles a little more inside 50.  Marks a little more also including inside 50.  Billy more involved in contested work and clearances at stoppages higher up the field as well as getting the loose ground ball in those areas.  Billy also  spends a bit of time in defence (intercepting a little), Spargo playing forward more often rarely goes back.

Spargo averaging nearly 2 extra score involvements per game vs Billy so far.  The difference here might be more to do with Spargo playing more time forward of course.  But a notable difference nonetheless between the two, especially given the limited number of games they have each played until now.  This might be something the FD is seeing also,  which might be the tipping point at the selection table if all else is a bit of a coin flip and they feel the match ups are against playing them together in the same line up.

Would’ve liked Jeffy in

no basis for saying it but I think you may get your wish on Anzac eve.

Hopefully Spargo has a good game on Saturday and is then "rested" for JG.

Same for Preuss and Keilty perhaps

I hear the Umpires have been told that because St kilda are a run and carry side, they will be given the benefit of the doubt in this game on how far they can run, so be prepared for it.

This was one of Max's straight arm games are a NO NO, so be prepared for those free kicks against the big fella as well.

If Oliver is ever to get free kicks paid to him this should be the game, just going by the First Four Games that he was being interfered against. ie held, tripped and hit.

Jeffy just needs to show some consistency, so another good Casey game and he should hopefully be in.

Oscar seemed devoid of confidence so needs to go back and learn to be aggressive.

Jetta and Lewis are generals and leaders and will shore up our backline even further.

Stretch is a trifle unlucky again , but when he gets his opportunity he must take it with more intensity in his game.

Spargo showed some real good signs in the second half linking up and hitting the packs with pace.

Hope TMac can hold himself together now that OMac is outta the team - particularly, as he realises that we are stronger without his little brother yet still incredibly reliant on the contribution of Big Tom. I am sure he is professional in this situation,

We should have won by 10 goals. We kicked the last 3 goals at the death to get close.

They dominated uncontested possession and kicked 10 goals to 5 from "defensive half chains" which means they ran the length of the ground over and over again to score goals

I was there, it was painful to watch them running all over us

IMV doesnt do enough , but Spargo on a limited possessions game does!?

He should realise that his little Bro is a very limited footballer who has been very lucky to play at the highest level!

It has been amazing that the 'professional' umpires so far this season do not 'see' Clarrie doing the best work a footballer could possibly do whilst simultaneously being interfered with and man-handled against the rules for an entire game - or two or three.

The number of frees deserved and not awarded  is quite staggering, watching the replays and concentrating on just one player - Clarrie. Another season of selective attention and selective inattention by the green snot goblins this year, to meet an AFL dictate?

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
