If we can continue on with some consistency then I'm expecting Franklin to kick 12 on Frost, and Oscar to find himself manning someone like Papley who will kick 6 on him by running circles around him.

Can't wait, should be a corker.

By and large it has been the smalls and mediums that have kicked goals on us thus far this season, not the bigs.  Buddy will only get 6

Can't believe Jeff was not on the plane!

He is the only one with a bit of x factor and knows where the goals are.  His defensive skills can't be any worse than anyone else in the team.

He was out injured for just a few weeks so how many games at Casey does he need?  Instead we take an undersized, underdeveloped kid who was dropped after one game and recovering from a broken jaw.

Just don't understand our selection criteria anymore.

Fear his card has been stamped.

Been the case since he squibed at that forward 50 contest against Richmond ansac eve 18’

A damn shame...

More likely he played a full game on the weekend.  The break was too short to take him.

We win the next 3 straight and become favourite for the flag.

As long as the umpires don’t crucify us every time we look like getting a run on.

Despite this the dreadful scorelines for the Dees this season, do not hope too much that the umpires will not intervene against us several times. The Swans crowd is worth far more to the AFL than that of the MFC. In addition, we are currently where many AFL 'executives' want us to be - right on the bottom of the barrel. The rules changes this year have also given the umpires more latitude to intervene, as well, and the flow of the game is more than ever 'under their control' in terms of which team can (not will) get a 'run-on'. Further, the showmanship of the umpires is now a feature of the game - random, unfair and inconsistent as their will is going to be displayed.

KK ruled out after a head knock last week?

Very concerning given his head injuries in the past.

Seriously? Jeff "zero tackles" Garlett is not the saviour. If defensive pressure is the mantra, he's the last person you want in the team, it's like giving the opposition an extra player down back. As for the goals part ... how many did he kick at Casey on the weekend?

Having said that, I like Garlett a lot, but he's so far off the pace he's unrecognisable as the player he once was.

Good that the club is taking it seriously. Precautionary as much as anything?

We’re getting great value from our recruits from other clubs. FMD.

True but I would still rather Garlett over Spargo.  He is a much better crumber and averages 2 goals a game.  If Tom McD doesn't play we will have only 1 recognised goal kicker in the side: Melksham.

Perhaps Jeff just needs to be backed in by the coaches to play a string of senior games to get his mojo back.   Other players have been given that.

Yeah it’s not been a good run from our recruits over the last 2 years.

Lever and KK haven’t done much wrong. Can’t really help knee or head injuries.

Did notice it during the game, but he then played out the rest and actually was a lot better in the second half I thought. I'd say it's precautionary which is good given his history.

He didn’t even try for Casey in the first half.

So lazy.

The one positive that came out of last week was that we played one quarter of really good footy. More like what we should be playing. Fast dominating and high scoring. Before it was only 10 or 15 minutes here or there. If we can up that to at least 3 quarters we should have a real chance.

Surely he wont be named @Petraccattack.. i cannot physically or mentally see how the [censored] he can justify his place in the team.

Time to crack open a beer.

Good changes.  ANB had to go and, even with the concussion, I think KK was probably in the gun as well.

I'm not convinced Tom Mac plays and he might be a late withdrawal, possibly for Spargo.  He doesn't really deserve to come back in yet but he's the best of the emergencies.

Feeling good about tomorrow night's game.  Reckon we're a fair chance.

Totally agree where kidding ourselves if we reckon he the answer. If thing run his way can been good but goes missing way to often. Have many friends at Carlton they were not crying when he left. Say a lot

While ANB was poor, with Frosty and Omac down back... lets not celebrate just yet.

Those 2 alone are a big part of the swiss cheese defense.

We will win 10 in a row now.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
