Poor old Demon supporters!

Foxtel have been showing selected "classic" matches since the early 80's.

Apparently we haven't been in ANY of them.

I know we were pathetic in most of the 80s, and 2007-2017, BUT.....we had some pretty good teams in the other years, and had some great matches.

I wonder if Foxtel take into account the likely audience, so that Richmond, Coll, Essendon  etc get priority.

Has anyone else noticed how rarely we're on?

What you say is very true. You will see plenty of re runs of filth grand finals to boot.

87 elimination final was pretty cool; as was the following semi final;

equally the 88 elimination and semi and the prelim sensational

the '90 elimination that killed hawthorn's triple premiership hopes was a classic, tight, Northey arm wrestle with the right ending

us versus bombers with Ox in full flight was a ripper from 94 but yeah, we won by 12 goals so maybe that doesn't cut it.

how about jeffie with nine second half goals v the pies? i forget the year but an absolute ripper.

I could go on but instead I might apply for program director at Fox (except it would mean working for Rupert, an enemy of the people and of people's government).

Recently had 6 weeks off and tuned in regularly to see if we were on. I saw us once, a 113 point defeat to Norf in R17 1996, real bloody classic.

We have been on 4 times so far.

A 120 point loss to North and losses to Pies and Saints this year and another loss I can't remember.

They haven't showed one win. Probably been on less than any other team.

We have been treated disgracefully by Fox Footy over summer.

Whilst I understand the sentiment that it wasn't a 'classic' for Melbourne supporters, that night was the best individual performance I've ever seen by a player: Wayne Carey: 15 marks, 31 disposals, 11 goals 2 behinds... could play.

The losses to saints and filth were not on classic footy but best games from 2018. Not that I would call them that. Geelong loss at the feral farm has been shown as well.

Forget Fox Footy just go and get the Legend Pack, 6 games for under $20 and watch them till your hearts content.  1987 Rnd 7 vs The Filth. 1990 Rnd 22 vs The Squawks. 1991 Rnd 18 vs The Aints. 1998 Rnd 4 vs The Team that needs some Blood on their jumper. 2002 Rnd 1 vs The Squawks. 2007 Rnd 11 vs The Filth. Just over Three bucks a game. Bargain.

No JJC. I haven't... as I don't have pay tv. and won't.

I'm not interested in channels McE'd and McMurdoch.

So we Demons don't have TV replays/recordings, from the 30's, 40's 50's & 60's, even 70's....  and they won't replay our 80's and 90's games !

What hope is there for a true Demon ?

bugger these corporate types...

Lets do it ourselves... form our own social media enterprise, a not-for-profit... and save our own games and interviews... and not rely, Nor pay these others, who cannot be relied upon.

It has been pretty much Essendon, Collingwon't, Geelong, Hawthorn, Sydney and West Coast with occasional appearances from North, Adelaide, Footscray and Carlton.

This classic games rubbish has gone too far.

Now they’re showing the most lacklustre of games between Richmond and Essendon’s VFL side in 2016, where the Tigers got up by a memorable 20 points.

And yet they haven’t bothered all summer to show our memorable rd 22 win over West Coast, which was deemed by the media to be one of the best games of recent years.

That’s some next level scheduling, I’m surprised their Round 2 game of that year hasn’t been shown, it was a bit closer than 20 points.

It's a joke and shows a complete bias to the so called big 4 clubs of VIC, that they showed that joke of a game (Essendon could barely field a side that year!), while they have not shown one solitary MFC win over the summer.

I feel like providing Fox Footy with a little feedback.

I have Fox, but haven't had a problem getting my Demons fix over the summer as I have a stack of great games from the last fee years recorded on the IQ which I have been watching on repeat:

2019, the two winning finals, our late season win against the Eagles & GWS, both Adelaide and Bulldogs games.  The Carlton game is a bit of a favorite (I still get a kick out of watching Bernie put Daisy on his [censored] in thay game), and also the Essendon game as our season was turning the corner.

2016 our breakout win Vs the Hawks;

2015 our win down at the Cattery;

A few years back Fox has a series of Max Gawn classic games which were pretty good value.

1987 Rnd 7 vs The Filth... watched it on YouTube. Players I'd forgottten about, like Dean and Hughes. But the biggest take out was that BT was a thug.

BT was a thug; however, his style rapidly changed when he met Rod Grinter at the 'G, one lovely afternoon. He sprinted 40 metres to where Grints was taking his kick (from memory, a mark that dislodged a Filth forward). BT grabbed Grints from behind in a headlock - twisting and turning to inflict damage. Grints, cool as a cucumber, merely bent over sending BT flying over the top and into the turf, and BT was too scared to stand up to face our best-ever field assassin who was ready for some retribution. Grints was all muscle, power and righteousness and did what he did for the benefit of the MFC and his teammates. He actually had some marvellous footballing skills, as well - still the best 60m hit 'em on the chest 'pass-er' I have ever seen.

    UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

    Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
