Love that match up, ultimate one-on-one. Wonder who would have the upper hand? Nev by a whisker perhaps?

Brilliant photo Dazzle, thanks

Harmes is no slouch either! Hopefully Hunt can stay fit and build on his early career form. He looks to have put on some muscle in the upper body over summer. He could become a serious weapon for us, and is probably the player I'm most excited to see in 2019.

I’m also hoping Hunt becomes a regular again in the 22. Question to everyone, where would Hunt suit us best?

Imo, after reading training reports and observing a session last week a spot in defence is there for him to cement.

We all remember his dash and carry over the last few years, but with the 6-6-6 rule in place now you’ll need to back your player’s ability to win the one on one should you lose the centre square clearance and the ball comes swiftly into your defensive 50. He has the pace to close down an opponent, his leap isn’t bad at all so he can spoil and as you stated he’s added muscle over the summer. He could find it a lot easier picking up one of his spoils and dashing out of defence with less numbers in front of him now.

I mainly watched the defensive drills last week and most of them consisted of practising for the above scenario. Ball would come in rapidly to a man and the objective was just to kill the contest ASAP. Hunt was like a wild beast trying to get to the ball before his opponent marked it.

If that wasn’t enough of a workout, the coaches kept Hunt and Jetta out on Goschs well after everyone headed to the showers. They were standing in the goalsquare and repeatedly had the ball thrown up in the air and the sole objective was just to spoil the ball to the boundary. The coach’s directive was loud and clear. Make sure that ball is dead after it comes in quickly to enable us to get our numbers back, set-up and back our strength of winning the clearance.

Apologies for the long-winded post, but this is the kind of stuff that interests me and hopefully other members on here whenever I get a chance to observe a session.

Article also states umpires were there to officiate the match practice part of training.

Would like to know more about which players participated and starting positions in this match practice.

Did the umpires take turns at putting blindfolds on?

This is a pic from friday. To think some peanuts on here actually think hes still carrying puppy fat or is carrying too much weight.

He is an absolute ripping nick! Just shows how hard he has been workinh on his fitness on and off field.

Ah good, he does look like he is starting to become more trim, 'cut'...  and its about time.

Now we can see the definition in tissues and tendons, veins more prominent than ever before.   It looks promising.

Maybe the current weight shown on the websites... now needs updating.

Very good.

OH: and I like the look of fear/desperation,  in Tracca's expression.

He appears to be...  looks more intense..... in this Pic.

Less laconic looking.

Did you actually go to training? Or just looking at half a pic. On Monday he looked exhausted and out of condition and 5kgs overweight. He was slow and couldnt run 10m by 11am, albeit in very hot conditions. Its still early days and he has plenty of time to get into shape and im sure he will. Others can express their opinions and observations from what they see if they like DD. Nuff said.

To give credit to the photographer, if anyone on here is a Facebook user, this lady is a volunteer photographer for the AFL and captured some fantastic shots (over 250) of the boys last Friday.

Here’s a link to her page.

Are we creaming up to the umpiring fraternity so that the terror of the 'white maggot syndrome' does not interrupt our very successful coming season - particularly against the Filth?

I'm one of the people that have been saying that he looks like he could drop 5kgs.  Over the past 12-18 months, I feel that he just looks too heavy.  I'm definitely not saying he is fat.  Hopefully you realise that there can be a difference between being too heavy (often because of muscle mass) and being too fat.  To be honest, I think most of the "critics" of Petracca on here are of the same view.

That said, I found your last sentence to be quite amusing.  You say he is in ripping nick, which "shows how hard he has been working..."  So do you agree that he needed to get in better shape, hence why he needed to work harder?

No, i personally thought he was in already great shape, yet he seems to have gone up a level with his fitness and off field work.

Are the same ones saying that that Dangerfield, Martin and Fyfe are too heavy due to muscle mass and need to drop a few? All 3 are all over the 90kg mark.

This is an outstanding photo. Similar facial expressions which show an imminent intention to act and each with muscle definition showing not just the effects of hours of training but also how they are ready to pounce like a cat that's just seen a mouse.

If Petracca is, as advertised, at 96kg, dropping 5kg to get to 91kg will see him have a very similar body shape of the likes of Dangerfield and Martin.  While I don't claim to be an expert on the matter, I'd also imagine Petracca at 91kg would mean he has worked a lot more on his tank, rather than bicep curls, meaning he should be able to start as a mid, then drift forward like the said players you mentioned.

Hard part is, we all have no idea.  He might be exactly where the club wants his body to be at.  They might be frustrated that his body isn't changing to where they want him to be, or his body may not be able to change so they will work with what his strengths are.  I think it's an ok conversation to have on here, but it's going to be one where we will never know the answer to, so maybe stick to having a civilised discussion about it.  As long as he plays top quality footy, I won't care at all.  At the moment, I think he has higher levels to get to, and would like to think we will see the next of those in 2019.  If not, then I'll be back on here looking at reasons why he isn't.

Could Hunt play from out of a F/ward pocket, LT ?   Has the lead speed.  Has the leg.

But does he have the hunger and desire to put up with being hit in the back?

He was swung forward against the Hawks a few years back and turned the match for us there, so it’s not the worst idea.

Personally I’d like to see him settle on the wing. Ideally him and KK own the wings, so we have good running power, elite pace in Hunt and elite kicking in KK.

Well it,  HE seems to be working hard.  its going to plan,  'LT'.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
