Much like the Jeffy Garlett ‘trade’ several years ago, KK will turn out to be an absolute gift.

Thank you GC Suns.

I’m glad that we, and not some mongrel club like the Hawks or the Blues, have been a clear beneficiary of the talent exodus from this Suns this year.

Really excited about May and KK. We are so good at identifying, and then trading in, experienced players these days.

In fact, a Dons’ supporter friend of mine was whinging about how good the Hawks’ trade period has been, saying “they’ll win the flag next year”. My response was “are you serious, have you seen how good our trade period was?! Our list is now perfect.” He just shook his head and laughed.

But I reckon it is.

I think the club deserves more credit than we’ve received to date. We simply nailed it.

Everyone gets dazzled by brand name player trades, and seems not to play sufficient credit to the trades like Vince, Hibberd, Melksham, Garlett, Cross, Preuss, and KK. It’s about how trades actually improve a club’s list that is the critical element in determining the success or otherwise of a trade period, surely?

I happy for the media, opposition supporters and most importantly other clubs to underestimate us.

Yep. The other thing is centre clearances just went up massively in terms of value due to the new rule changes. An area we dominate at and the hawks struggle.

Our list feels 'complete' now

I can't wait for the next 3-4 years!

Still think we are two quick, skilled outside mids and maybe an A grade small forward short of complete. Might develop from our list or from a draftee this year, but they may equally come in over the next 2 or 3 years.

We can always improve our list further!

Hopefully Hunt hones his skills and becomes one of those outside mids or perhaps the other one with KK. If Jeffy rediscovers his magic we could be the compete team you'r looking for.

IMO of the three you mention, only KK could be this, and mostly because he's an unknown quantity

Don’t discount Hunt becoming the small forward. He played a lot of his junior footy there.

With another full preseason Spartacus may well become the crumbing small forward (one who applies pressure and can tackle despite his lack of size) that we hoped Jeffy would become.

And hopefully Hunt can with the help and guidance of our coaching staff become a quick outside mid / winger. He has shown he can win the ball and break lines; needs to brush up his disposal, decision making and awareness

Without wanting to sound pedantic Jaded, I reckon the way we see footy today, Clubs lists are never complete.

Clubs are looking to improve their lists every year, and with increased trading American style, annually and mid season,  lists are going to be even more elastic as Clubs look to bring in players and trade out players. Not excluding gaps created when players and their agent managers seek to initiate trades.

Don't disagree there is a chance he will play up front but at 187cm can you be called a small forward?

If you can *play* like a small forward, your height is irrelevant.

How things change, a few years ago our full forward was 187cm tall! In fact Allen Jackovich and Russell Robertson were 187 (and probably still are). Yet today they are considered smallish! And Colinjazzknee at 190 is mid sized.

I feel an affinity with Charlie Spargo!

Hope he can actually get on the park with his concussion stuff. GC didn't offer him a contract so they cant have been too optimistic.

Has your glass got a hole in it?

Freo must be wondering what's wrong with Hogan too because according to you we let him go too cheaply.

Cheap player in = reject from another club, must be fatally flawed

Cheap player out = Mahoney blinked and let the MFC get bent over

Stock standard goal post moving from those that aren’t happy unless they’re unhappy.

Interesting I just read that Rodney Eade said he played KK out of position on a wing and his best position was HBF

I wonder where that leaves Jordan Lewis ? I would have Hibberd on HBF over anyone else so it’s getting very crowded back there

I expect that Jordan’s year will be similar to Bernie’s this year.  Slowly phased out of the Dees team and into Casey by the end of the year.  Retired at the end of the year.

I think so too. Jordy is just about done. And Jones will be the following year.

Jones' problem is he won't get a game at half back with Hibberd and KK there, and IMO he's not good enough to play on a wing either. I'd have Fritsch and Harmes in front of him.

And before some people tell me I've got my blinkers on again, tell me where Jones plays next year. He certainly plays when we have injuries in the midfield, but at full strength, he's not there.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
