Might be a reality check for Hogan ..he wanted to explore his options ..we ok’d it & explained how we would use the picks we got for him ..Freo didn’t value him enough ...I now feel whatever happens in the future ...he doesn’t hold all the cards !!

Wait, no, THIS one will bring on the 300.

I'm as sure as Peter Bell is stupid.

5 and 23 is a credit to our football department for their willingness to take unders in order to satisfy Hogan's desire to return home. It sounds like we did all we could on our end. We put Hogan's wishes ahead of the clubs needs. When contract time comes we can only hope Jesse factors that gesture in.

Passing up the opportunity to land Hogan, and overseeing the departure of Neale - pretty much puts paid to any chance Fyfe may of had of tasting success in his career. Sandilands will depart at the end of next year, and with no guarantee Darcy will make it as a ruckman, that could very well leave Lobb to carry the load. Freo will still need key backs and forwards. Hogan is probably the last home grown forward to fit their need, and they just passed up on him for a reasonable deal. It is just a disaster for Fremantle IMO. If I were Fyfe I would be asking for a trade this week.

Can we get Fyfe please...if only we had a young WA product to trade...

Nobody is going to want too deal with these [censored]! And players won’t want to go there... Someone in purple is trying to be a hard arse pumping his chest!

If that’s you Peter Bell it ain’t working! You need to take your cape off and suffocate yourself immediately!

Who is the fella who took over from Lloyd. He seems to be another [censored] in the gun who is going to ruin this club!

I would love if Cerra and Brayshaw told them they want out and back to Victoria and won’t be signing on any further...

Now that you mentione Fyfe.  It was reported that he and Jesse are great mates.

Suspect Bell has [censored] off his own captain and perhaps other teammates who were looking forward to playing with Jesse and winning a few more games.

Bell doesn't realise what a pandora's box he has opened.  The guy is a football player and a radio jock - has no idea of managing people and organisations.

It's also on his teammates to make sure in no uncertain terms they are glad he's still with us, and try to make him more of a Demon.

True but more up to Hogan to become more of a Demon and jump in with both feet. If he doesn’t im not sure he will have a good season in 19.

I think Jesse is a genuine CHF and can push into the centre square and onto a wing also...

Our forward line can definitely work with Hogan, Weid, TMac and Preuss. Why? Because both Hogan and TMac can push up the ground and create a rotation that would be difficult for opposition too match up on.

It will be a strength of ours that will be un rivalled. Just look at Hogan and TMac as extra midfield/flankers rather than Key Position.

Seems Freo are positioning themselves to finish on the bottom next year.
Terribly poor management.

They can try, but the Suns have that one sewn up already. And equally badly run.

Freos supporters just scream “VIC BIAS” any time a journo is critical of Fremantle.

Came home to these three beauties and the news that Freo are bigger flogs than I thought... which was already a bloody lot!

I wish someone would enlighten me on these Hogan issues. Bali incident?

i feel like a mushroom

Please keep on topic - I gather it is biscuits.  (but me too)

Hogan will play off half back next year, a solid inside source told me about an hour ago. Also told me last week that Tyson was gone for Pruess.

So i will watch closely.

“The club is not unhappy” his words...

Not supporting the Gibbs trade (they paid too much) but it wasn't simply picks 10 and 16 for Gibbs. Adelaide also go 2018 picks 21 and 40. And gave up 2018 pick 28, expected to be much later as Adelaide were expected to finish a lot higher.

So what ?

I like it.  He's one of the best field kicks in the team with a big tank

I think it is clear that in the end Freo didn’t want him for whatever reason and their offer was a token effort, knowing it would be rejected. Hogan will need to work really hard to rehabilitate his value because I think it has plummeted

Agreed. He doesn’t like the goal square. Will still get a chance to kick the odd goal running forward

Makes complete sense and physically he is ideal for that position. He has strength, stamina and pace. Just needs to develop a defenders mindset.

Mmm...well he's not mad on that pack marking thingy....

Agreed, that’s part of the mindset bit.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before as I’ve not caught up however, this outcome aligns with ch7 Perth’s early call from Basil big nose last night that was apparently a ‘tele prompt’error.

That and the time stamp in Mitch Cleary’s tweet all deduces to the fact that Freo had informed local stakeholders at least, yesterday afternoon.

Was Mahoney aware of anything this morning and he played a straight bat, thereby allowing Freo to reconsider?

Who knows but if anything last nights ch7 Perth blunder was in fact anything but.

No idea what you are getting at, he said “Goodwin has earmarked him for Half Back for next year...”

I was commenting on another post.

I was ok with hogan leaving IF HE wanted too, only if we got compensated what he is worth.

It feels like everyone is trying to come up with reasons for him not being any good.No player is perfect and remember he is ONLY 23  What about Carey, fevola,Alistair Lynch, Barry hall etc Players like hogan are franchise players who put bums on seats, yes hogan is a risk but so is the draft.

im not sure what Gibbs treloar lever Weller Neale etc are all getting paid at there clubs but I’m pretty sure it’s not near 1.2 -1.3m what Fremantle think hogan is worth.

Now Fremantle want to play hardball and take there own risks what if Kennedy has a major injury next year and west coast might start thinking Hogan’s available or even with these new rules ie no hands in the back, one player starting in goal square hogan could kick 70+ for Dees and win a flag, pretty sure he won’t leave Dees after that.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
