Farewell Jesse Hogan

this is what happens when the CEO and a guy with the worlds worst case of little man syndrome are in charge of your list management. Freo finally had a gun key forward on the hook and they aren’t willing to pay close to his value. Why even bother wasting your time.

Freo not rating Hogan but watch them offer him a mountain of cash next year in order to lure him.

They might have already done it......

Freo giving up pick 6 for 11, 23 and 30 from Port looks completely pointless now. Complete amateurs.

No... to be fair, in of itself this is a good trade for Freo because they basically didn't have a lot of picks this year...

The problem was them prioritising that and taking it off the table before the Hogan deal had been done.

Freo and Port could have undertaken this trade on Draft night... Live trading could have seen that take place at any point of time!

Play him down back next year.

Might not need May now.

Agree. We have seen CHF/CHB swap positions effectively like Neitz, Carey (temporarily), Hurley, TMac.

It's worth giving it a go with Jesse.

He could also play as a high half forward flanker with his speed and endurance.  Let TMac and Weid play the more traditional positions.

I hope this is a blessing in disguise.

Peter "Jive Turkey" Bell.  I stand by my previous comment.  Lets get creative to still bring in May.  I hope Hogan kicks 10 on them next year.

Can't really get creative with nothing to play with. I can't see us bundling up players and we don't have any picks to give. May will not be a Demon in 2019.

Scenes at Freo headquarters.

The President of the Fremantle Football Club: so how did the trade week go, Peter?

Peter Bell: great! We showed them east coast guys a thing or two.

PoFFC: and how did we go with the Hogan trade?

Peter Bell: Ha! Ha! We didn’t get him.

PoFFC: Didn’t get him? I thought we were after him?

PB: Oh we were, believe me!

PoFFC: So what happened?

PB: They come up against old “Nails” Bell!

PoFFC: I don’t understand. Didn’t they ask a fair price?

PB: Oh yes! Very fair. But they come up against a hardarse balls-out negotiator!

PoFFC: Hang on. You mean we could have got him?

PB: Yep!

PoFFC: But we didn’t get him?

PB: Nup!

PoFFC: How close were we?

PB: Close as, mate! All I had to do was stick out me hand and shake!

PoFFC: So let me get this clear. We wanted him.

PB: Hell yes!

PoFFC: They asked a fair price.

PB: Yep!

PoFFC: But we refused and now we don’t have him.

PB: Yep! A few of those east coast boys will be licking their wounds tonight!

Hope the club comes out very quickly with a statement to the effect - "our first preference was always to keep Jesse, he's a quality young man but he's been through so much in his life that if wanted to go back to be closer to family it was something we fully understood. That's why we entertained this in the first place, unfortunately while Freo through buckets of money at him they were unreasonable to deal with and we're keeping him and will be working on a long term deal".

If we didn't have TMac & Weed what would we offer for Jesse? I would be very disappointed if we didn't offer 2 first rounders. Which we did in the first place.

As for extended contract offer to Jesse, front load it to $2m for 2020 on a $4m 4 year deal minimum.

Lets now hope Jesse wakes up to himself and puts pen to paper with us.  Any inflated ego from being the subject of much discussion has burst big time. Time to settle down and play football with the team that has looked after you through your darkest hours young fella.

Hilarious on trade radio listening to Dockers fans calling in talking up Cox, Taberner and Lobb as a legit forward line with any hope of success.

Delusional!

Honestly shocked at what Bell and Rosich have done here, even for a couple of amateurs. Had a 500+ goal career CHF/FF staring at them in the face and they’ve shat themselves at even paying a halfway decent price for him.

Unbelievable. Gross negligence in running a footy club.

a sample of the responses on Dockerland:

"Great call Belly!

You have in one fell swoop killed off Melbourne’s hopes of getting May from GC and called them out for asking overs for an injury-prone (and currently injured) WA player.

If Melbourne are fair dinkum in wanting May watch for their back-sliding and offers of ‘concilliation’ over the weekend to get this trade back on the rails.

Now just sew up the Lobb and Langdon deals with the second and third rounders we got as part of the pick 6 swap. "

Mahoney has stated earlier today that if we don't get currency for Hogan we can't trade for May.

Barrett called Rosich and Bell novices and out of their depth. Operating in positions they are not familiar with and wasting everyones time (AFL community).

Don’t rate the guy but good call from Purple.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was part of Freo's motivation. Cutting their nose to spite their face in order to "teach us a lesson".

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
