Farewell Jesse Hogan

If the deal on the table for Hogan was pick 5 & Brad Hill ... would you take it?

Send pick 5 and Frost to the Suns for May and Kolodjashnij.

2019 R1 Side:

Jetta May OMac

Salem Lever Hibberd

Hill Oliver Kolodjashnij

Petracca Weideman Jones

Spargo TMac Melksham

Gawn Brayshaw Viney

Harmes Lewis ANB Hannan

To me this is would be a significant improvement on the 2018 version of Melbourne. Shore up the defence with May while adding some class run, carry and delivery on the outside of midfield. We’ve got the grunt covered. Now’s the time to add a bit of polish.

Be very happy if we emerged from trade week with an outcome like this. Pretty much all depends on what Hogan does of course.

Crickey, are we there yet?

silence from all the sources that would matter.  Will the Bluey cause player or club to reveal their hand?

A mate's family used to take turns presenting the Fitzroy B&F trophy to the winner each year. His family were related to the club official the award was named after (don't ask me to say who, as I have no idea).

Anyway, each year the winner or placegetter was poached by a power club as poor old Fitzroy was near bust. Pert, Osborne, etc all abandoned the sinking ship.

On the year my mate's turn came up, he presented the trophy to Paul Roos and broke tradition by announcing to the crowd it was now Roosy's opportunity to declare he would resign with the Lions. Handing the mike over to Roos, the response was,

"Thank you very much for the award."

And he left the stage.

Well, you can imagine the silence as 300 fans sat, mouths agape in the knowledge that their club champion, star player was leaving.

The following year he was at the Swans.

Dangerfield was a free agent, no contract to Crows?

Dangerfield was a RFA so the Crows could have kept him by matching the Cats offer. He was adamant that the Crows receive just compensation. Crows got pick 9 (Milera) and steak knives. I doubt that Crows fans held much of a grudge in that Dangerfield had served the club well for 8 years.

We should offer Mrs Hogan a job at the club

:)

Was that while living in WA?

Interesting, as if so, it meant he couldn't see them play live very often.

Has family from South Australia and was always a Crows fan growing up

No to Brad Hill

Damaged goods

Care to elaborate?

Triple premiership wingman and Doig Medallist (2017). Still only 25yo.

Hogan not averse to staying out ‘til the wee hours himself on occasion. Does that make him “damaged goods”?

If a Fremantle player comes into the equation (other than Cerra or Andy Brayshaw) I wouldn’t be interested in Ed Langin, I’d be asking after Brad Hill. He’d be very handy on a wing for the Dees, won their B&F in 2017, triple premiership player and still only 25yo.

There were rumours during the year too that Hill isn’t entirely happy playing ‘Ross Lyon footy’.

he opended a business in WA and said he isn't leaving.

Might be one of the reasons we are happy to let him go. ?

Major developments this evening... won’t say much more as I don’t have all the details.

Is evening from "6pm-9pm" or is it up to 11.59pm?

FWIW and I'm just one punter... Even though Jesse has a range of god given talents....I wonder whether he  genuinely fits the system and culture that Goodwin really wants...

Maybe Freo are Hogan’s second team. Some people have a second team.

Grasping at straws...

On things WA trust 'Pennant'...I'm sure it's more than just a few late nights.

According to that idiot McAvaney Essendon is everyone's second favourite team.

Haha I nearly vomited when he said that.

Had mail tonight from a mate close to a non-dees player that JH is gone. Same source is confirming Conca to Freo so apparently that's the word going around player circles. Wouldn't take it as gospel but he was on to Lever to Melbourne at the start of 2017 before the media storm.

Thanks @Mondê

The AFL merry go round is winding up to speed.

Not sure what you’re trying to say here...

None of the developments were anything to do with a public announcement and wouldn’t have been picked up by the media immediately.

It appears others have confirmed bits & pieces, but the fact remains that my source is impeccable. I don’t push for details though, cos I’d prefer the well doesn’t run dry.

Everything i've heard (i know nobody, just from on here and AFL journos) suggest he's gone. Like i said in the AVB thread, i don't like that the club is going to have so much turnover after a succesful season onfield. Hopefully this is a one off off-season, reminds me too much of our dark days.

Take it as you will but May was having beers with Gawn (and other Melb players) after the Brownlow and said that he wants in at Melbourne next year. Feeling was that Hogan is gone but wasn’t sure how the trade would be done.

This comes from a reliable source and we are trying to manage how we can maximise on the trade.

Gawnies cider commericals won over somebody atleast.

Looking forward to 100+ pages of updates Across the trade threads to see me through sitting with the magpie supporting inlaws tomorrow

Besides Hogan, they are only turning over fringe players who are looking for more opportunity.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?

It was only a preseason match but the new look Demons spearheaded by new coach Steven King looked impressive as they put on a clinic against perennial cellar-dwellers North Melbourne as they cruised to an 80 point victory at Casey Fields.
