I would only be interested if the Dockers actually approached the club with an offer. I would only be interested if that offer was their first round pick and one of their players eg Langdon or possibly Andrew Brayshaw ( I know he has re-signed, but we might give them back a pick). I would then use that first round pick to try and pick up a quality mid like Gaff or Shiels

I think his value on the market has never been lower. Most clubs would be wary of offering too much.

This is the obvious, M5.   The injury occurred/was diagnosed, after the discussion started.

It obviously should change things, and move the discussion to the back burner.  Which then comes back next year, his contract year.

I think some underestimate the advantage gained in mismatches created by moving a player between a KPF role and a midfield role. Forcing the opposition to make changes on the fly is where you create opportunities.

Im not sure if Im for it or against. Depends what his long term intentions are. ie will he choose to stay if Kennedy cant get fit and  finishes up for example. Or he gets a monster offer from Freo.  But its HIGHLY unlikely we will get to hang on to Wiedeman much longer if he isnt getting a game. So...perhaps its going to have to be a choice. Would suck to lose both of them in the next few years.  Im not yet quite a Weid believer but for those that are...this has to be a part of the conversation. Lets see how weid goes in this next chapter ...of how ever many weeks. If he kicks 4 in a winning grand final the answer might  be clearer ?

IMHO there is so much wrong with the proposal to "sell Jessie".

Why would you discard a player who opposition coaches think so highly of they always double team against him? And that's despite the fact that we crucify Jessie every time we bomb it in long. He is not a pack mark but he is fast and if we lowered our eyes and learnt to hit our targets he'd get more confidence in leading. Buddy is not a pack mark either - in fact he would have dropped more marks than Clarry has had handballs - but the swans are always lowering their eyes to his leads.

Why would you throw away an established key forward who is your leading goal kicker, and near top goal assist player, for a first round pick that may or may not pay off a couple of years down the track? Does not make any sense.

We are now on the threshold of becoming a great team (for many years i believe) and that is being built around the young talent we have, so why would you break up that talent? Jessie was the first  of this young group and the key man around who we built our talent pool. The team culture we have built to date with this lot would be destroyed if we were to sell Jessie.

Weiderman may or may not become a good player. Jessie is a very good player now. Do we need another mid so badly that we'd take this risk? I don't think so! Our mids are good and will only get better, as will Jessie as we mature as a team and feed him properly. 

Sell Jessie? FFS give me a break!

Jesse, Weid and TMac can all play in the same forward line. 

Jesse CHF, Weid FF, TMac FP or rotate off the bench.

I think Jesse can even push to a wing and roam the centre square. He doesn’t have to be a main goal kicker. 

Our forward line against the Eagles worked very well...

A Big NO to trading Jesse!

My concern ... and interest is winning... Winning a flag. Having a competitive team. I really couldn't care less who's in it. It's actually irrelevant ( to me ) . It's about a team.

We don't necessarily need the picks - but first round picks are great currency to trade into getting the finishing touches we actually need in other parts of the ground, i.e an established, classy outside mid. 

And that's my point - if the Weed is deemed suitable to be our #1 target up forward at the end of the season, then why not at least consider trading Hogan for picks, and then trading those picks to fill gaps elsewhere? It's all just food for thought at the moment, I'm certainly not in the "we must trade hogan" camp, but if there's a chance trading him will put us in a net better position then I'd certainly give it thought.

Let's see if the Weed shows signs he can be that guy first though. Then the convo is worth actually having.

He is playing a different game now and we have TMac up fwd. If you look at Melbourne's contested marks inthe fwd line I would hazard a guess they are miles above the past few years.

Variation and unpredictability about our fwd line are possibly more valuable than a stay at home forward.

not to mention his first two years he didn't necessarily have 2-3 defenders going up with him to every contest! They know they have to put their best on him now.

I would not want to lose Jesse, but if he indicated he wanted to go home and with FA approaching, I would ask for Freo's first pick and Cerra and Brayshaw or something similar and tell them do that deal or we will trade him to the Eagles.

We could then take a key forward with that pick and hope he comes up.

It really is ridiculous.

I know stats arent everything, but his 2018 numbers are almost identical to David Schwarzs phenomenal 1994 season.  Unfortunately Jesse wont get the chance this year to tear the finals apart like The Ox did, but he will get plenty of chances in the future.

Its bloody hard to find a gun 195cm, 100 kg forward ... and hes still only 23!

Talk of trading him is absurd.
