How many free kicks have the Eagles had inside 50 directly in front of goal? At least 7? Not saying it's the reason we're losing but the umpiring is farcical. 

That chase from Jones and Lewis was putrid too. 

Eagles .. 3 inside 50's this quarter = 3 goals

Hell we're back where we were at the start of this season !!

    Started early when we had passed all the time when the game was to be won.

    Even the bounce is against us.

    Lewis has to retire after this. He must put his head on the chopping block voluntarily, as act of atonement. He has a leadership role, yet played like a young fool. Enough.

    It is not our day but I hope we keep playing til the last minute because a destruction like this can really damage our future.

    Geelong spanked the Pies in the 2009 Prelim by 90 points. Pies won the 2010 flag.

    Just one of those days. Thought we'd struggle given the emotional wave we've been on but thought we'd be on early.

    What does interest me is the return of many posters who were strangely missing when we were up

      On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.
