They include the standing room which could total up to say 10k across both clubs which means only around 5k seats available to priority 2.

What a pity GWS couldn't make it.

I see.

What I don't understand is who the hell are the other 60,000 people who will get tickets to the grand final then, if only 40,000 are club member tickets?

am i right in thinking that you can't specify a preferred category in the ballot?

i.e. if you wanted standing room you couldn't nominate and could end up with category 1

Nope, it says to give yourself best chance in the ballot, you should select ALL categories and just deal with what you get.

well for starters, the mcc and afl members must be a big figure

then you have the corporates etc

Approx:

  • 20,000 to MCC members,
  • 20,000 to AFL members,
  • 20,000 to AFL affliations and sponsors.

Numbers to each group can vary.

If anyone is a P2 (or better) member and not able to go to the GF, I would love to be able to use your code for a chance at a ticket. Please PM! Thank you.

Still no email for gf registration for me. Come on dees!

Poor form from the club.

When I rang the club, the on hold message said the email was being sent at lunchtime. I got mine 2:48, hang in there.

I got an email around 2.30 today about the ballot;  i am an interstate member category 3.

It was pretty noisy and my voice was totally gone by quarter time. I wasted it all telling Nicholls what a total dick he is.

So apparently only 10,000 MFC members have priority 1 memberships (myself included!), and the club will get 20,000 tickets allocated, so priority 2 members have a decent chance of getting a seat.

I would tell everyone to get an upgraded membership next year, but honestly, I don't want to be fighting it out with more people for a good GF ticket... so stay as you are ;)

Thanks, do you know how many priority two members the club has? Im a priority 2 but my three kids are priority 3.

Also, if each club has an allocation of 20k each who do the remaining 60k tickets go to? Surely a situation where more than half of the people attending do not support either team is not the ideal atmosphere.

Would anyone know, if I’m a Redleg member and I am guaranteed a GF ticket should MFC participate, where roughly I’d be seated?

Cheers

Depends on how much your willing to pay for a ticket.

Im a Redleg member also and so is my Dad so we will both go along, I need another Redleg barcode though so I can get my son a ticket....

Well I managed to get down to Melbourne for 3 games during the season. Having said that I missed the last two weeks. I’m more than happy to pay the $410, I’m hoping that would land me somewhere on level 2.

Same. It's a whole lot of e-mails all going at once.

I would think that if you are in Priority 1, you get drawn out of the ballot before priority 2/3 and therefore are more likely to get allocated better seats?

I mean look I don't care where I sit, but surely if you've forked out money for a priority 1 membership, you won't end up in crappier seats than someone who got picked from priority 2 group?

Yeah you're probably right, I guess it depends on which order they release the bays in. You'd assume priority 1 get ground/2nd level first and once that's exhausted they move to the upper levels.

When we got seats to the GF in 2000 we were up the top of the old Ponsford Stand. No idea what the allocation was like then though, my dad organised all that as was still a teenager.

I haven't read through all the fine print yet but my 9 year old Son is a Priority 2 and I'm a Priority 3 ?

Hoping the fine print explains how I register to give us both a chance to go... Surely they don't expect him to go on his own? Although he would! Haha

Giving out barcodes to people who never post on this site will just see your tickets up on eBay within minutes for ten times the price.

Far out, the process to acquire tickets seems ridiculously confusing. If we happen to make it I’m going to find a scalper.

Either that or scalp a finder ?

I'll be in the queue for a Priority 2 ticket and will be mightily effed off if some non-member barcode beggar gets a seat ahead of me.

On ya bike (putting it very politely)

My understanding is that if you group together members of various priorities, the chances drop down to that of the lowest priority. The system will be able to match barcode numbers with priority level.

So, for two priority 1's and one priority 2 to attend together they will all go into a priority 2 category.

Honestly, who the [censored] thought this would even be something we would discuss this late in the year? Grand final tickets? Get out of here!

It's crazy! ? But as it's a real possibility we are forced to think ahead... I'm totally confused though... My 9yr old is a P2 while my 5yr old daughter and myself are P3 ?

All I need is 1 adult + 1 concession for my son and I... But if I register myself with him then we both end up P3 ?

Do I bite the bullet and register his P2 separately and then myself and daughter P3? Then what if he gets a P2 and we miss out ? I'll beefarked if I'm sending him on his own ?

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
