How good was Viney...an absolute pest to their stars. You can just tell that he loves getting under the skin of Ablett, Selwood etc.

I wasn’t sure how he would go last night but upon reflection a final was his perfect comeback game. He is built for finals - as hard as they come, manic attack on the ball and ball carrier and a real hunger for physicality.

I thought he rely set the tone early and showed why he is a Captain of our great club. He oozed leadership and intensity in the opening minutes and really set the tone.

I bloody love the bloke!

Such a great win last night, was a real grind at times, the one thing that i absolutely loved was just how tough we're now. We're Built for finals footy.  Unsure how many of you saw the Melbourne faithful cheering Roosey at the end of the game on Fox Footy.  You could see how emotional he was getting.  Was Brilliant.

Go Dee's

When lining up to get into the G, Roosy walked through to a massive cheer from everyone, he couldnt help himself he stopped and took it all in with a bit of a smirk on his face.

hate geelong even more now cant stand ablett selwood dangerfield constantly fakeing for frees and crying to umps .Nevs hit on selwood was fair and tough selwood started the fake before he even hit him

Not a captain’s [censored] is Joel Selwood. Selfish self entitled little whining sook. M

Massive error this one. Killed all their momentum. Hawkins losing his shot on goal as a result too, couldn’t have happened to a nicer [censored].

I couldn’t sleep and I feel hung over. Didn’t even drink. Worth it.

Just watched Chris Scott’s Press Conference. The guy is a complete [censored] in the coaches box, but his presser post game was all class.

That was a huge moment.

That little gem happened on the Member's side in front of the i/change bench.  Hawkins was lining up for goal in front of the Southern stand from a spot  where he had kicked one earlier.  Umpire took the ball off Hawkins and paid a free against Selwood.

They had the momentum by keeping us goalless in the second quarter and if Hawkins kicked that goal the lead would have been just 15 points with nearly a half of footy still to play.

Selwood cost them the momentum and thereafter they lost structure and composure.

They looked like the Finals Rookies!!

Yep, a real Captain's game from Selwood!  In the past he got away with that stuff but not last night!

A very late edit:  Apparently, the free kick against Selwood was paid by the Emergency Umpire.  Didn't know that was allowed.  The guy deserves a medal.  Hope he umpires our games in future!

It was clear that he decided during the half time break to rough us up.  Early in Q3 he was tackled by a Melb player (cant recall who) in a regulation no-damage tackle and Selwood went for him afterwards out of all proportion.   Good to see he carried on with that...

What an incredible night. Felt like 75% Dees,  the noise and spirit in the G was unbelievable.

Seeing Dangerwood both lose their [censored] was just beautiful karma after their actions at the cattery.

Got home at midnight,  cracked a cab sav and nearly teared up watching the replay!  Bed at 3!

Could someone please remind me how many games has Melbourne won against fellow top 8 clubs?

I know that is rhetorical but just for the record:  3 in the last 3  weeks!  If we add a small loss to Syd that would be 4 from 4!

Can't beat a top 8 side they say!  Well that and all the other negative narratives from the empty brained media commentators will no longer see the light of day.

A new day has dawned!

My favourite anti Geelong moments was all the booing directed at Ablett in the second half.  Doubt he has heard that before!

#Timetohanguptheboots

Some were saying he was past it a few months back and whilst he is no longer our most dominant mid (too much competition), I think Jonesy's last month has been awsome.  Just keeps going about it in a tough, uncompromising, workman like manner and has been bobbing up and ramming home some important goals. Recon guys like Harmes, Brayshaw and Olivet walk taller with him around.

The weekend is so much better when you win on a Friday night.

GO U MIGHTY DEMONS.

I won’t be happy unless we can double up on our current total of 3 by sesson’s End.

Funny you say that.  I nearly wrote 3 down, 3 to go!  But a lingering tinge of MFCSS stopped me - you know the counting chickens thing...

...but I'm with you all the way FF!

Another great thing about this win was that we finally got a 'Roaming Brian' in the Melbourne rooms.

I would rather the camera roaming the rooms without Brian!

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
