Vandenberg and Frost - wow!

And how good was Weid.

Bring on the Kittens.

Should Harmes sit on Dangerfield - gee where has this unseen potential (from this punter) come from?!?!

Lots to like about today:

  • Great tempo management, especially in the third term.
  • Terrific pressure all over the ground.
  • Excellent defence:  Looks like we have virtually abandoned the high zone and stopped the 1 or 2 behind the square.  Much more 1 vs 1.
  • We are following a more traditional 6 x 6 x 6 game structure.  Works a treat!
  • Fantastic effort being 2 down players down.
  • Composure +++ .
  • Add we kept playing till the very last minute

Great game plan modifications by coaches and equally good execution by players.

Finals @ the G here we come!

Great to have some strong form heading into finals.

We really strangled GWS's run today and played the game on our terms. Keep that up and we will be difficult to beat.

What a win.  The injuries weren't ideal but after the first 15 minutes we smashed them off the park.

Everything about this game screamed that we are finals ready.  The contested ball, the defence, the class, the synergy... it was beautiful to watch.  We had winners all over the ground.

Maxy dominated again and should go close in the Brownlow.

Our young midfield - Oliver, Gus and Harmes in particular - are sensational.  Harmes has had a brilliant second half to the season and he beat Kelly and won plenty of the ball himself.

Our defence was excellent.  Frost was terrific and our older heads in Jetta, Hibberd and Lewis marshalled the troops superbly.  It took time but our back half is working so well now with Lever not there.

Melky and T Mac were great up forward and Trac provides the X-factor.

Little Spargo, while he still makes mistakes, had a hand in a number of goals with class plays that put his tremendous footy IQ on display.

I can't wait to take on the Cats in a fortnights time.  We are a better side than them and I'd love nothing more than to pull their pants down and send them back down the highway.

DEMONS!

BRING ON THE PUSSYCATS.

GO DEMONS

Agreed with these comments on formation. Although we're still played a zone for parts of the game we were much less inclined than previous weeks.

If you dont believe by now..........

Extremely encouraging signs from those three.  AVB is a strong, clever player who brings some real toughness to the side.  Frosty has been sensational and his run and carry, while also beating his opponent, has been a treat to watch.

And it's great to see Weideman growing in confidence with each passing week.  Watching him clunk those marks, provide a tough contest when in the ruck and then slot a last quarter goal was awesome.

Wasn't sure how this game would go so extraordinarily well played Dees, ecstactically happy with this!

Harmes did an outstanding job on Kelly.

What happened to Tyson?

They believe he has a small fracture in his hand/wrist.  No idea how long it will keep him out, or if it will actually keep him out, just yet.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
