GAMEDAY - Round 21

Jones looks like his sulking and doesnโ€™t want to be out there.

Iโ€™m done with this week as [censored] club. They are two down on the [censored] bench and we are just letting them run all over us.ย

We donโ€™t deserve to play finals. We are a soft bunch of front runners. Letโ€™s go for another decade of no finals. Whatโ€™s the difference.ย

Here comes the pea heart calls for an entire off season again. We are the hardest club in the AFL to follow. I've never been this angry at MFC before.

Everyone in this thread can get stuffed.

We'll win from here.

BWAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

You made a funny.

No, it is Goodwin. Great player. Crap coach. Sydney are stretching us and he has no answers.ย

Pederson kicks the goal but Oliver being manhandled, what the hell do we have to do for a free kick?

You are seriously expecting frees for us with Nichols out there controlling proceedings? That's at least a 4 goal advantage to Sydney at our home game

I admire your confidence but I think youโ€™re drunk and you should go home ?โ€โ™€๏ธ

Agree that Jones has been useless today. He looks really slow (against the Swans of all teams).

As usual

Sydney: professional

Us: apprentices

It's strategy that is killing us.

Sometimes you do need to win ugly. Not everything has to be coast to coast stuff.

Accurate kicking and progressive advance into the fifty had gotten the Swans where they are.

Jones should be dropped off this performance. Sick of him getting a free ride. Zero defensive accountability and isnโ€™t even running hard enough to get to contestsย

He has been really poor today, he just doesn't look up to it. Whether it's injury, age or depression from years of underachievement who knows. He needs a rest.

What the [censored]?????????????

Can I once... just once... see my club stand up when it matters.

Once? Is that too hard to ask?

Just not good enough, simpleย ย as that.

This is [censored] torture, where is the hunger and composure.ย

This team lost to the [censored] Gold Coast for [censored] sake. Wake the [censored] up Now.

Really? I have, at least twenty times this decade alone. Go Dees.

Another predictable loss. Nothing has changed. This club will be a failure for eternity it seems.

If we miss the finals and Goodwin is not sacked then I am cancelling my Membership.ย

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturdayโ€™s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFLโ€™s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
