GAMEDAY - Round 20

Featured Replies

Why dont we man up the spare in defence. We're smashing them around the ground and just hitting the spare every time we go forward.

Hard to know if we are playing well as GC are putrid

I was disappointed in the last 5 minutes

very tough conditions. sitting in afl members and the wind is strong and swirly.

Disappointed.  Not that we didn't score more,  but we got lazy in our structure/ defensive transition,  and too cute with disposal.

I don't care about the margin,  but expect us to execute in the areas that have let us down when under pressure.

5 goal to 3 quarter in which we had 80% possession ...nothing fantastic

They’ve definitely concentrated on shutting the game down and it’s worked. They’ve got 2 extras in our forwardline.

Please no injuries.

That Sexton goal from the wing showed how strong the wind is. But who's playing on him, he has 3 to half time

Not actually playing that well and deserve a bit of a hard chat at half time.

Nice to be winning well but this GC seconds side would struggle against Casey.

Lost a bit of momentum there when we came through the middle and kicked it straight to them about 5 times in a row.

C'mon Demons, step it up again and hammer it home

Based on today JKH, Vanders and Vince to hopefully be replaced by Viney, Melksham and Hibberd respectively

Regardless of the scoreboard, if we turn the ball over like that against a real team we will get smashed.

Live ladder is 131.1%.  Keep it going, and don't let up Demons!

but that is the usual way we are shut down in that we pack our own forward line.

Against a team like GCS we should be easily able to take that form of defence apart.

Why are they not showing the live ladder on TV today?

Because we would be 3rd - and firmly in the top 4 ahead of the pies!

I know it's ridiculous to complain when you're up by 6 4 points at half time, but I only watched the last 3 minutes of that quarter and we looked sloppy AF! Why the hell our players keep handballing in circles when directly in front of goal and under pressure, I'll never understand. Petracca could've had a shot at goal but handballed to a Sun's player and the ball ended up right down the other end.

Then Vanders had that terrible miss under no pressure running into the 50. Once again, the Suns get an easy transition straight down the other end with an open player in their 50 and, naturally, they score a goal after the siren.

This is the lazy stuff we desperately need to clean up if we want to beat the quality teams in the next month and stand any chance of winning finals.

Anyway, Go Dee's!

You may be right but let's give Vanders a bit more time.

I reckon you could have just stopped at your first line mate ;)

Smith needs to tidy up his kicking, as does Nifty. Very sloppy that quarter.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
