Welcome back AAron!

Great reward for huge amount of rehab work and giving it everything he has in recent Casey games.

He never gave up.  He never gave in.  I really like that about him.  He is a true warrior!

Melbourne squad: round 20

HB: Christian Salem, Oscar McDonald, Jordan Lewis
? Dom Tyson, Clayton Oliver, James Harmes
HF: Aaron vandenBerg, Jesse Hogan, Bayley Fritsch
F: Jeff Garlett, Tom McDonald, Jay Kennedy Harris
Foll: Max Gawn, Nathan Jones, Angus Brayshaw
I/C (from): Christian Petracca, Charlie Spargo, Dean Kent, Cameron Pedersen, Jayden Hunt, Alex Neal-Bullen, Tim Smith, Joel Smith

In: Aaron vandenBerg, Dean Kent, Cameron Pedersen, Jayden Hunt, Tim Smith
Out: Jake Melksham (hamstring)

Interesting bench. You would think Trac and ANB will play. Wouldn't mind Kent for Spargo. Would love Hunt for Smith if he is back to his best but he may need some time in the VFL to get back into form and fitness.

No way Trac and ANB miss, so we have Kent, Hunt, Pederson, Spargo, J. Smith, T. Smith fighting for two spots.

Reckon J Smith stays, but is on notice with Hunt coming straight into the squad.

Spargo or Kent to fight for the last spot.

If the coaching staff don't replay the 30 odd point win we had over Brissy late last season when we were up by much more then they should all be sacked for incompetence.  Show the collingwood game as well.  Each week for the next four weeks in fact.  These two debacles cost us.

I can't believe Gold Coast's outs.. i think thats a bigger story than our ins. Plus Lynch saying he's leaving might knock the stuffing out of them before it's even bounced.

Or it might inspire them!

If there is only one out why would they list all those ins?

Oh I forgot my own rule the whole thing is BS.

They name the emergencies as ins until the final teams are named,  same as every week...

Good to see coaches have shown faith in Tyson and JKH by keeping them in the starting 22.  Would be a real boost to their confidence.

They are both getting more and more into games.  The more continuity our players get the better now that we are getting to the pointy end of the season.

Fully expect Petracca and ANB to be in.

If hogan and T Mac don’t get 6 each against that defence something is wrong.

The is easily the worse line up I’ve seen all year.

Fred Fanning already starting to move from his last resting place as result of prophesy...……...

Will 18 goals be challenged??

Meanwhile ( we will probably go down by a point!)

VandenBurg named on a half forward flank to replace Melksham.

The extended bench is listed below. I'd play the ones bolded, so essentially Joel Smith replaced by Hunt.
Christian Petracca
Charlie Spargo
Dean Kent
Cameron Pedersen
Jayden Hunt
Alex Neal-Bullen
Timothy Smith
Joel Smith

It’d be tempting to bring in Hunt for sure, but it’s a big roll of the dice. He was in awful form before the injury and he hasn’t been back long. Kent for Spargo is also tempting.

I’d be conservative and stick with the forced change only.

Stoked to have vanders back!

Yep, no chance either of them get dropped.

I suspect they might bring Kent in for Spargo. He has been terrific Spargo but is young and they might want an older, hardened forward for finals and if they are thinking Kent they will want to get some games into him.

I wonder also if Hunt might be some chance to come in for Smith? Probably not as not like for like, they will want to reward players for winning, if Kent comes in that's already two changes and he is improving each week. Super athletic and plays tall. I've convinced myself. He stays

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
