Did that happen with the ( not paid) kicking in danger that resulted in a goal to Geelong?

It would be very interesting to know.  Umpires got very slack about paying these frees though I think they have got a bit tougher recently. Still not tough enough IMO.

bloody unbelievable ?

A speedy recovery Mr Harmes

Posted

Let me just quote myself from the Post match discussion thread:

"There was a centre bounce in the last quarter too where the pack was around a ground ball, Harmes bent to pick it up, a Geelong player kicked the ball off the ground and they wound up with a goal. It was possibly the worst case of kicking in danger I can remember. The Geelong player booted Harmes' wrist and his shoulder bumped into Harmes shoulder/neck. Harmes may have been injured as a result. Not only was it a definite free kick, it was borderline report worthy. But ofcourse, no free kick called and resulted in Geelong goal to keep their momentum going and get them over the line".

If that incident I described on the weekend is the cause of Harmes' broken hand then the club should be fuming. We were legitimately robbed by the umpires on the weekend. Not only that, but they've failed in their responsibility of ensuring players receive duty of care when on the field, as one of our players is now injured due to a careless rough act that went unpenalised. Unbelievable. I hope the club lodges a formal complaint against the umpires from the weekend. What a f*cking pathetic waste of skin they are.

By now, you should be aware that Geelong, Collingwood, Carlton and Essendon can do anything against the rules if it is to their advantage and moreso if it enables a quick, scoring return. I think that one as you describe is a non-decision once again that was purposefully ignored. Accountability?

If it did indeed happen at that time, the club should raise this with the AFL.

I wonder what happened about raising the Dangercon incident?

Hawkins got off for smashing Fritsch as well.

This club is pi$$weak at speaking out when we should.

Hope Pert does something about it.

We need to get on the front foot with the umps before playing in another hostile environment this weekend

Harmes needs a massive pat on the back after last weeks game. Selwood kept to just 16 touches but what might be the best thing to come out of the game was Selwood got just one free kick... JUST ONE!!!!

Suffer in ya jocks... ya d!ckhead ;)

Lever starts developing back into AA form. Gets injured for the rest of the season.

Stretch finally plays a solid AFL game and shows some of the qualities we could really use in the side. Gets injured for the rest of the season.

Viney and Hibberd work back into some form (albeit not spectacular from either of them). Both get injured.

Harmes finds a niche as a tagger and in successive weeks takes out A-grade midfielders in Macrae, Selwood and Dangerfield. Gets injured.

We had a solid run with injuries in the first half of the year but that luck appears to have firmly run out now.

Makes the Port and St Kilda losses harder to stomach, given at that time we had just Lever out from our first choice 22 (Hunt having been dropped before getting injured).

According to some people on here, Umpires dont cost teams games.

Go and watch the game over and you will see the garbage that got paid against us on sat night.

Looks like that visit from Troy Pannell paid off for Geelong. [censored] the AFL.

Can we get a priest, a rabbi, a sheik and some Buddhist monks to come and bless the club? Remove the bad energy?

Sage leaves? Tea leaves? Some Glenn20 perhaps?

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
