I actually thought he played well? 9 tackles and 15 ddisposal. He can build on todays game..

He did a lot of unrewarding running and i hope over the next few weeks he's rewarded more.

Keep it up JKH!

Is and always will be depth.

Well obviously.  But from player 15-30 is generally depth.  You need those to be readily replaceable on form or in injury and be able to perform.  If they are much better you won't be able to give them game time or $ and they'll leave, worse and you lose.  We don't want players 23-30 to be kids, we're wanting competitors who can play a role without leaving us a man short.

Can he become that for us for the next 2-3 years? Perhaps.  He's shown alot of improvement at VFL, shown ability to find the ball and competitiveness and tackling.

We still have a number out of contract who aren't performing to that level.  So it'll come down to JKH or a very low pick.  Today was a pass, let's see how he goes the next few weeks.

Was ok. Got better as the game wore on. Very good defensive pressure. Gets another chance.

A very measured takes on it all. He didn't shine... didn't really disgrace.

He might be on borrowed time but he might make it work.

Jury out....but not far off

As did the whole team

Came into the game in the last as all others tired.   Laid 9 tackles which I am sure is one if the KPIs the coaching staff love.

Depending on injuries and Casey form I suspect he will get another go especially on the tighter Kardinia Park.

Unless we have a proven better player coming in he has to stay. Let him find his AFL level feet, he did the hard work with tackles and worked into it.

So you're suggesting his improvement lifted the team? :P

He was leading the tackles at half time.

1st game this year, and only 7th in 3 seasons at AFL level.  He deserves a chance to work his way into the speed of the game, the same way we would for a senior player returning.

looked terrible before 1/2, once bulldogs dropped off looked better.  Junk time potions which made his day look better than it was. But it is the first game up in ages so it may have taken him time to adjust,  May keep his spot next week, but would be near the bottom of the list to stay in.

As a Casey supporter, it was nice to see JKH get a game with Melbourne after all his hard work at Casey. I wasn't overly impressed with him today but would like to see him keep his place and tighten up his game.

Let’s see:

- absolutely petrified

- runs around contests

- drops chest marks

- slow

- can’t lay tackles

- pretty good actor in TV commercials

ill need time to think about this..

I heard he sleeps with a kiddie light on & is scared of his shadow when it’s infront of him.

He did lay some nice tackles when the game was iced.

Yeah. Stand by your thought that the leading tackler on the ground can’t lay a tackle. Good lad.

He’s the leading tackler because he is second too it because he slow.

Pathetic. Want to enlighten us on your illustrious football endeavours? I am sure you never shirked a contested ball in your career. In other words this is just a cheap shot on someone you don’t know.

No I didn’t pal. Nor did I drop chest marks out in the open that were lace out pal.

His tackling and hands in close were good. He needs to hold his marks, and work on his contested work in the air.

He was solid enough and deserves a second game. I'm really happy for him, earned a recall and didn't let the opportunity pass him by.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
