Beating Carlscum by 109 pts is the game of the year.

I'm less concerned about top 4 now. We had that chance and blew it. Far more concerned about finals itself, which that loss goes some way to helping.

Besides, it's just so, so good to see Norf lose. Scott is a massive [censored].

 Agreed.

At any rate, Collingwood, Port and Sydney all have tough runs home (Port's gets even tougher if they somehow can't beat Fremantle today):

  1. Collingwood - North, Richmond, Sydney (away), Brisbane, Port, Fremantle (away)
  2. Port - GWS, Dogs (Ballarat), Adelaide, West Coast, Collingwood (away), Essendon
  3. Sydney - GC, Essendon (away), Collingwood, us (away), GWS (away), Hawthorn

Of course, our run home is just as hard, but our destiny remains in our hands. And you never know, with those three sides having runs home like that, if we can outperform what we all think we're going to achieve (i.e. we get past 13 wins), we could go up on the ladder (I doubt it, personally).

I assume there will be some inevitable posts re: 'how did we lose to port' - similarly those who thought the first half against the dogs were awful.

To me - this game/ the cats loss, richmonds loss, hawthorn etc -  shows how close the competition is, and how mere percentages 'off your game' or at times 'luck' means you win, or get smashed...

It's elite sport, it's tough and the margins are always small...

AND - I really like what Roos, Goodwin and PJ et al, are building towards...and it may not be 2018...

ahhh, can't please some  :)

week to week - small things change for the individuals, the coaches, the systems and it becomes cumulative. how else can we account for such massive discrepancies in form lines between what are seemingly teams who are so far apart... bris/hawth, melbs/saints etc etc

Must be both Freo and us playing in Darwin last weekend!  ?

We both seem to have defied the script by bouncing back instead of losing due to fatigue and insufficient recovery time!

I 'm loving round 17!  Bring it home Freo (never thought I'd be saying that, even after a few reds).

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
