Jones - age catching up

Viney - great when unburdened

Fritsch - was all class

Hogan - ten minute game

Harmes - played with heart

Brayshaw - prolific but wasteful

Lewis - often a liability

Melksham - playing slow motion

T.McDonald - was probably injured

Neal-Bullen - an irrelevant player

Petracca - plenty of nothing

Tyson - a dumb player

Weideman - nothing to commend

Gawn - one man team

Hannan - devoid of ability

Hibberd - reduced to amateurish

Oliver - rarely found space

Petty - debut to forget

Salem - undisciplined and disappointing

Smith - little to praise

Jetta - was still concussed

O.McDonald - was emphatically embarrassing

Selection = Some pace please

I'm not saying we have much in this area but FCS time to roll the dice on anyone with a bit of toe.  Time for Baker, Stretch and last roll for Garlett.

Disagree with a lot of this.

Hibberd played well. Salem was good. Smith was good. Jones was good. Lewis made blunders, but his composure and skill was first class again.

i actually thought that nathan Jones was good. I thought him and gawn were standouts wih fritsch being serviceable. everyone else was disgusting. where was the defensive mindset? weak as p!$$

Thought Petracca played better this week. Gawn was excellent. Clarity down on usual.

Nitpicking over individual performances is pointless after a game like todays.

We got beat by a team that was better on the day.

That being said, Dom Tyson sucks.

Harsh on Hibbo. Never stopped working. The rest are probably right, maybe Salem and Smith were a little stiff as well.

BB29 I disagree about Petracca, disappears for loooong stretches of the game, then does something brilliant ( this is frustrating) This is the first time I reckon I think StK got it right by selecting McCartin

Interesting, is it about expectation based the Trac’s potential? I thought he battled on today and did some good things but yes he could not turn the game on it’s head. But I can’t remember him being responsible for an absolute howler whereas how many of our guys coughed up the ball with embarrassing errors?

We all hope for more but today he put in, I thought.

Hold your heads up high Gawny, Fristchy and Hibbo.

3 out of 22 players says something doesnt it?

disagree with Hibberd, thought he was best backman, agree about TMac and Nev, both shouldn't have played. And at the moment Hannan is a complete waste of space, Jeffy would have given a contest, this bloke is scared of contact!!!!

Fair enough 4,?

Pass Marks:

Gawn

Hibbo

Fritsch

Harmes

Viney

Brayshaw ** (was lazy with disposal - but tried)

That's it. Honestly, that is all i can find. i think Salem tried and others as well, but trying hard should be mandatory.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
