I'd love to win tonight to both strengthen our chances, and also significantly dent a "resurging" Adelaide's chances. Sydney is absolutely gifting us a home final, if we'd beaten St Kilda and Geelong like we should have we'd be a lock for at least 6th.

The problem with Adelaide, Sydney and WC is their tall forwards. I'd much rather be playing Richmond, Collingwood and Port again in these final 5 weeks because we match up better with them with both Hibberd and Lever out, and I'd fancy our chances more against them than the aforementioned. Given our outs, we are coming up against the worst possible teams. Just our luck.

We have had plenty of opportunity to have that covered off, but amazingly we still keep being given opportunity after opportunity.

There simply are no excuses anymore, either we start taking a couple them, which we should and look at progress, or face and deal with the fact that we have gone no where.

agree with this post 100%. I'm almost at the point where i'd prefer them to learn some harsh lessons again. even in the off season i was one of the rare people that didnt buy into the 'we're breathing fire after missing out on finals by 0.5%' notion. i've adopted the 'i'll believe it when i see it' notion.

I know it’s probably an obvious thing to say but I really feel like we are one big win away from this team kicking into the next gear. And I don’t mean big win in terms of margin against a lower team I mean getting a win against a contender that will give the players the confidence in themselves and each other.

I’ve still become pragmatic about this season (I guess it’s MFCSS) but it does still keep that little spark in my heart alive!

Was thinking the same thing unfortunately I think we may run out of time, hope I’m wrong

I don't think Sydney is a tall forward line.

Their forward line right now is nothing to be scared of, either. They hardly generate a competitive number of scoring shots.

Adelaide and WC though, agreed.

I don’t either. It is just a job to them. Supporters are the ones who have been invested in the club for decades.

Carried by Buddy, who is apparently injured, trained 20 mins all year but won't be rested, and Tom McCartin who is a kid. Zac Jones suspended for two weeks as well, so will miss the game. We win tonight, and beat GC then the Syd game may be our chance to really cement our spot in the top 8.

i have played around with the ladder predictor a bit and I think we win the next couple of weeks it would take a miracle to not make it - GC and Sydney should realistically both be wins especially if Sydney stay in this form - I have a sick feeling they will get McVeigh and Hannebury back though think they are both missing atm

In other good news if we win everything except the WC game we should definitely finish fourth and a free crack at Richmond for a prelim!!!

I’ve booked a holiday for the first week of Finals so I need us to finish Top Four (so as to get a second chance) so I can enjoy watching us play on the The Second (or Third) week of the Finals! Go Dees! (Premiers 2018)

I have us beating GCS, Sydney and GWS.

Obviously the recent losses to the Saints and Cats hurt so top two is unlikely. But I can see us finishing 4th. Richmond can beaten, yes they are a good side and put sides away but have been beaten when challenged this year. Would love a qualifying final week 1 against them. Hopefully by then Hibberd and Viney are back and have a couple of games under their belts.

The only time the tigers have lost have been   outside the MCG, they will finish top and will play all their games there.

agree Fester last night was a huge result buts lets not get ahead of ourselves. If we win 13 we should get at least 6th which i would take right now.

Yes, I think if we can beat GC and Sydney then it's going to be hard for us to miss.

If we lose to Sydney it's still possible for us to get in on 12 wins, assuming we hold our percentage. But much less likely.

I like our chances against the Eagles better than GWS, with their current outs. Even if they’re back, they’ll be rusty.

And MCG or not, GWS are back to being formidable opponent.

If we had our full strength i'd give us a chance against the tigers at the G. We did learn a lot from that game and while i don't think we would beat them more than they would beat us, on any given day something can happen.

Before we worry about that we need to deal with GCS and Sydney. Both are their for the taking, but nothing is for certain.

Would be great to make the eight this year and win a final.

While Dogs & Tigers flags seemed a surprise both had made finals before, not sure the last time a team made finals for first time & went all way to winning GF!

Yes I know Tigers 13th in 2016, but made finals the three preceding years.

If miracle happens, Dees make finals and keep on winning, will be deliriously happy ?

we will have everyone except Lever by the time finals come around - if you dare to dream think about the Doggies 16 when they had been putrid but got all their players back to start the finals - there will be the week off as well so we should be cherry ripe for first week if we make it

If we can pull off all four we will play Richmond even 3 wins we will probably play them as well. I would love to have a crack we have the cattle to trouble them and could catch them off guard. Suddenly if you are in a home prelim anything is possible

I understand this, I think we could beat them week 1 of the finals if we were to finish 4th.

If this was to happen and we were to win then all our games would be at the G.

I honestly believe that we can beat any team anywhere on our day... but we are the oddest team in the AFL. No team will ever go in at half time 30pts up thinking they have it in the bag, because when we are on we can kick goals out of our arse, and do it quickly. But, conversely, no team will go into a the last break 30pts down thinking they are out of it.

One moment we are driving down the freeway in top gear, smoking a cigar and with 3 bikini clad hotties, feeling good about the world, and the next minute we downshift to overtake someone, miss, shove it into first, put the pistons through the bonnet, and wave bye byes to the girls as we call the RAVC for a tow.

I think most teams that we might play in the finals will look at us the same way - a little (or maybe a lot) scared we will be on, but also confident that if they can pressure us enough they can get an easy win.

All that said, if not this year then next or the year after we will iron out the bad and maximise the good. That I really believe.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
