Geary probably back in.   Still leaves their defence down.

With Webster out maybe we can rest Tom Mc to have more time to get his lung capacity back and rest up. Difficult run home coming up.

I understand exactly where you are coming from LH, but TMac. has been cleared by a specialist, and if he gets through a training run on Saturday morning, I want him to play.  We need to keep working on our forward half synergy and Tom is the linchpin in that part of the ground.  Further, every part of a % point that we can muster at this point might be critical as the season rolls on.

It was in 2017 Dof.

If he is fine you don’t rest him.

He has already missed a chunk of the season and had a bye 2 weeks ago.

Yes LH, I absolutely agree.

All that blood coming out of his mouth looked bad.

I think TMac’s so valuable we’re in trouble without him. His long term health and career come before getting him back faster.

Is the specialist who’ll decide whether Tom’s ready the same one who presumably said Viney was okay to play last year?

I was thinking rest Mr Total Football too.

I don't mind tyson as depth but he is just so slow in the mind and has no awareness. That piece of play against port where he was jogging with the ball blissfully unaware of his surroundings only to get mown down from behind has been so typical of tyson in his career so far. Great accumulator and his skills are okay but for me it's his lack of awareness which is a massive momentum killer.

It didn't look good on TV 'Dr' but it wasn't all his fault.

You could see him looking to give off but it was pretty obvious there were no options, what were his mates doing?

Lack of communication from teammates around him also didn't help.

Geary will be a handy in, but Webster is a huge out for them.  His run and carry off the flanks has been terrific this season.  It's actually a bigger out than I think most people would give credit for (not saying you think that way LH, just in general).

I agree rjay.  Looked awful, but you could see his eyes darting everywhere for a target and there clearly wasn't one.  I would have preferred him to just get it forward, but maybe the instruction in that situation is not to do that... ?  I don't we'll know, but Tyson isn't solely to blame for that piece of play.  Could have been anyone.

Agree there was a lack of communication, which you could see from his reaction and he may well have had no options (impossible to tell on TV).

Disagree it could have been anyone. Sure players like a Harmes might have got pinged but Oliver and Brayshaw, among others (eg Lewis, Spargo Salem) release that ball. Even in the unlikely even they did not realise they were hot (which surely is a given) at the slightest contact they are ready to do a quick handball.

That bit of play points to two issues Tyson has. Firstly no doubt he suffers a bit from a lack of peripheral awareness. The second thing is technical issue i have pointed out before. He often seems to hold the ball out in front of him which exacerbates the impact of the tackle and often means he can't get even a half handball off (which seems to be enough to avoid a free kick).

it was poor bit of play but players give free kicks away all the time so no hanging offence.

IN - Weeds

OUT - T Mac (injured)

I wouldn't make any other changes. I know they are saying T Mac should be right and he is tough but you don't mess around with internal bleeding and bruising to the lung.  Another hit in the same place on sunday and it would not be pretty (although I aint a doctor and will back the clubs medicos).

We don't need Frost at the back as we have O Mac, Smith and Hibbo.  Membrey only 188 and Bruce not playing

  • going to be selected
  • going to be traded out
  • going to be traded in
  • has been on eccy all weekend

Don't want to sound like a hero or anything but I know someone who works at Casey who says that they are preparing without the Weid. I guess it's possible he could be the non playing emergency? But I hope we don't risk Tom, think we can handle the Aints without him.

My guess would be that he'll come in for Tim Smith even if Tmac plays. 7 snags in the 2s including 19 touches and 12 marks will get you a recall

Doesn't mean TMac is out. Could easily be coming in for Tim Smith

Tyson will never be good until he is playing as an inside mid.

He is not an outside runner, and Goodwin trying to make him one, won't work. He is slow and a poor user of the footy. What he does exceptionally well is win clearances.

As for the Smith vs Weideman argument, both bring different things to the table, but bottom line is Weids is the future. We need to get game time into him, and the time to do that is now.

Our backline is my biggest worry, for which there is no great solution. Frost is major NQR, Petty is untried and raw, and that's about the depth we got going on. We have lost a lot of quality down back in recent years in Frawley, Dunn and Howe (say what you like, the two boys are doing very well at Collingwood). We've only regained Lever in the process. That's 3 out 1 in, and now he is injured. We are really thin for backline depth and it's a major worry.

It's time Petracca was playing more time in the centre square.

Allowing others into the team in the forward half.  Petracca should drift forward with the play.

We currently, in an ideal world, have too many one paced players running through H/F and the guts.

We'll ultimately need to replace a couple with some pacier types.

Weide's should not be competing with Bull, but more-so with Pedo, TMc and to a lesser degree, Hogan.

Bull should be IMO competing with Petracca, ANB, Harmes, Jones, etc. And the small quick's, for a place up forward.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
