Did anyone see Neale Daniher's speech to the Melbourne players that they showed after the footy last night on 7? I just found part of his talk here.

It's interesting to see during the week when he spoke to collingwood and essendon he was joking around having a laugh but when he spoke to the Melbourne players and apparently the whole Melbourne staff were told to come in and listen, he was all serious and spoke about taking our opportunities and about why not. He said why not take our opportunity this year and have success. Why can't you go on and be premiers. Spoke about the last premiership being in 1964 and said its time for us to win it. You could just see the look in the players eye especially Jonseys that he gets it.

Gee if that doesn't motivate the boys Im not sure what will. Neale is just amazing. You think after each Queen's birthday you are never sure if Neale will be around the following year but he is still fighting on. I think it's great for any 1st year player this year hears Neal speak and learn from him.

I cannot watch Neile Daniher these days without tearing up. One of the most motivational men I have ever had the pleasure of meeting in my lifetime.

'You give up, you give in or you give it all you got'. I hope all of our boys took that in and do Neale proud on Monday.

How about this gem?

This will be season definer and ladder shaping game. The Pies will win this one with a leg in the air. I cant see any part of the ground that is inferior to the demons. All the guns will be firing on Monday. Grundy along with Coxy will own Gawn no team can go with them two. The scoring power with the whole mid size gang will dominate, just a look at the Demons backline they wont be able to contain the Pies. Our midfield is a class above theirs. I feel Bucks will be making it known were are here not just be numbers in the finals but absolutely believe we are contenders. I know people cringe at the lofty expectations, I picked the Tigers out from round 9 last year it was in everyone's face, only a few could see so far out. The Pies at close to midnight on the premiership clock. Come round 18 onwards when the majority of the list is fit for selection, I feel the pies will close to unbeatable. On the flip side those campaigners beat us on Monday everything I just said is [censored] straight out of my arse.

WAP caveat at the end.

Iirc he said something like

"opportunity won't be there forever"

if that isnt the last thing the players should see as they run out and plastered all over their training areas then it bloody should be.

Will be wearing the royal blue getup for Retro Round?

Yeah. After years of Melbourne  either promising much then disappointing or just being [censored] it's hard to get the cynical head around the fact that, finally, we have a decent team to support.

I'm starting to believe and reckon we'll do the filth comfortably.

I think the maid is starting to believe as well BBO. Soon she will have the full set of AFL jumpers to wear to work.

If that doesn't lift you to play out of your skin nothing will.

I'm now working Monday. Still hoping if I finish by 1 I can get to the ground by 3ish. Trying to get a park at that time will be a killer.

Will miss the pre game which is a shame.

Don't think we would debut Petty. I think it might be a boost to his confidence and telling him he is doing what they require at Casey.

I do remember when we debuted a certain young forward many years ago on the Queens Birthday and he got ragdolled. Never forgot that one. Still we have Captain Jack now to look after the young ones i guess.

That gave me [censored] chills if the boys don’t come out fired up after that they might as well give it up

One thing I do know about this game Collingwood won't get to play the first 10 minutes tackle free.

That’s what I said when I first wrote my rhyme,

Our ex cricket captain’s namesake has earned his time.

The once was a team named Collingwood,

Whose supporters remind you of Bollywood,

This day youll remember, as the Dees march to September

And your torn a new one by the Demon Brotherhood.

Heartbreaking. #whynot should be inside the rooms for rest of season, on the banner every week. Everything else is Fugazi

confirmed where?

Not surprising but Garlett must be the emergency as he didn’t play at Casey.

Garlett and Stretch both held over for Monday. Wouldn’t be surprised with another change. Hannan is sore

Sorry but that would be more of a collingwood act.

I’m on LSL, it’ll be the first QB match in 4 years I haven’t been sick.

You really need to plan these things better, Ethan.

I don’t know, planning seems like a lot of work.

Happy with the changes so far, with Pedo in for TSmith, and Joel Smith in for Lever.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
